Well, fuck, I like it.
So, I had gotten a 1965 Mustang refinish and the finish needed some work. It also needed a setup pretty badly. But, now the finish is good, a nice gloss again, not quite perfect but damn close.
I had decided once I got it sorted out that I'd sell it, and get a new Martin acoustic. I even have the acoustic picked out.
But, you know, I had to play the guitar to get it set up, didn't I? Problem is, it plays like a dream. Super low action, great neck, a lot of sustain to it which I hadn't really expected. Sounds good.
I don't know how I'm going to be able to sell it.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Sounds like you're in the second honeymoon phase. Give it time.

Re: Well, fuck, I like it.
Good point. It's actually the first honeymoon, because when I had it before I'd surrendered it to various technicians, I could see that I'd like it but the setup sucked. The nut was awful, the saddles were put in the wrong place on a Mustang bridge. It still played well!
I'll see how I feel in a couple of weeks. Don't be too surprised to see it in the "For Sale" section.

It sounds like you have A Very Good Mustang, which would be a terrible thing to relinquish

selling good Mustangs is something I won't do again!
I miss my '69 since the moment I sold it.
Think twice Larry!

Is this the mustang you mentioned in the guitar techs thread? How long has it been there total - a year?
Glad you finally got it back and they way you wanted it.

Re: Well, fuck, I like it.
At this moment, Herr Doktor Schrödinger, your Mustang is in an indeterminate quantum state. If you sell it, you collapse the wave form & create an infinite number of universes in which you never get to see or play your sweet, well set up, great sounding Mustang again. Infinite iterations of you feel infinite regret. All over the multiverse, the cash from the sale is soon spent, & your myriad avatars spend multiple eternities boring infinite reluctant listeners with tale(s) of The Mustang(s) That Got Away.
We beseech you: Spare us! Don't sell your Mustang! Let the far reaches of spacetime resonate with out-of-phase harmony! Keep your Mustang, play it, enjoy it, & bequeath it to your heirs!
You could always sell it later...

It is the one, after seven months that first guy never did the work I had asked him to do (taking care of the finish) but he did put on a bone nut free of charge, and he did a good job with that.Supa-Stang wrote:Is this the mustang you mentioned in the guitar techs thread? I took it to another guy, and he finalized the finish work by putting on several layers of gloss and buffing it out. It looks great now.
Which isn't helping.

I got my old lady on the pictures but she's dragging her feet.
This is what I am making a move on, though, or something similar for contrast:

Re: Well, fuck, I like it.
Or possibly, although this is a newer model and not many are used out there:

But I spent a couple of hours playing Martin guitars, and that one above just blew me away like very little ever had. I'm never one to babble about sustain, especially not on an acoustic, but fuck, it was like a piano with the pedal pressed or something. Just amazing.
