Hi All,
I am looking for a neck pickup for my '64 jaguar. The bridge pickup polarity is north, so i am looking for a south up pickup. I have been looking on ebay and reverb, there are some there, but the sellers cannot tell me if they are north or south up. Without knowing the polarity i may end up with two of the same pickups, and not be able to make the guitar hum cancelling. Can anybody help me get a south up '64 staggered pole jaguar pickup?
Thanks!
Jan

Its does not matter which way the pup is wound, you just swap the wires over when you solder to the pot/switch on one pup if the both run the same way.

With a pair of strong magnets (ex. Guitar repair magnets from StewMac), you can reverse the polarity of the magnets.

Wow, i didn't know that. Could be a last resort. For now, i hope to find a seller that knows the polarity of the pickup.

Re: Jaguar '64 pickup south up
Here's a good way to find out: Take a compass, face north and hold the pickup to the compass an inch or two away from the north point. If the needle attracts to the pickup, then it's south up. If it deflects, it's north up.
