Post your #1 vintage offset!
Not enough offset pictures to drool at right now on the most recent threads, so I thought I'd throw this up:
What's the favorite of your vintage offsets?
I've been lucky enough to own several 60's Jazzmasters, Jaguars, and Mustangs, and although I'm down to just two 60's Jazzmasters (plus a 70's Mustang on a new Warmoth gold sparkle body), I'm pretty happy for the time being! Right now, this has got to be my number one. '59 body, '67 neck, '65 electronics, I think earlier pickups and trem. Spitfire guard. Refretted. Refinished by MJT. Basically my dream custom Jazzmaster. It plays almost identically to my 100% original '66, although the pickups are pre-CBS and sound darker. The '66 is a VERY close second, is lighter, and the neck is a hair thicker.
With my '66:

Re: Post your #1 vintage offset!
I've had the luck (or is it unhealthy obsession?) of getting a few vintage Fenders over the last years. At the moment I have 3 refin Jazzmasters: 59, 65, 66 and an all original 66 mustang. All of them are amazing instruments and while I like them and play them all, I find myself gravitating towards the 1966 Jazzmaster in Lake Placid Blue refin. Not only my #1 offset, but my #1 guitar.
I've got it on ebay at a very decent price on 2014 and it come to me with a homemade pickguard, Schaller tuners, the neck refinished and headstock sanded off. Also, the first two inlays are replacements. Slow but sure I gave her a refret, a matching headstock, a beautiful aged mint guard from portlandmusic, plus staytrem bridge and trem.
The refin color is a metallic LPB that I found outstanding from the auction pics to this day. (neck pocket shows it was originally sunburst) It's gorgeous in my book. Underneath it, there is a daphnish light blue that shows more with each ding and flaking. For sure not as nice looking as an original, aging Fender finish but I don't complain.
If looks weren't enough, playability and sound are insane. The neck is thin and fast. The nut width is also on the narrow side, to the point that for a long time I thought it was a "A" width neck (Neck stamp was long gone. Further research and comparisons confirmed that is most likely a slightly narrower "B"). Unplugged, it has a huge volume and resonance. Plug it in, and the original pickups translate this into a balanced, crystalline jangly 3D sound. I record guitars pretty much daily and this one is usually my first pick. As soon as I strap it on, I feel it fits me like a glove. But enough of my babbling, here are them pics!

Well I'm going a little left field and listing a vintage copy. 1967ish Mory JM copy with an 80s Tokai neck and an amateur refin. Despite this it's pretty much my best guitar.

In terms of toan/playability--the '62 (second from L). In terms of sentiment/feels--the '65 Sunburst (third from L).

Re: Post your #1 vintage offset!
well, always the same one. not only it is my #1 offset, right now it's my only offset.
1977 mustang, not very desirable for many offset guitar players but to me this is very special, something i will never part with. plays great, sounds great and looks cool IMO...

I love the 70s mustangs with the black guards. You're lucky.

they indeed look very cool and i think those are very underrated guitars in terms of build quality, feel, playability and tone.

@kracdown That gold is fantastic. Love that shine, love how it's metallic and not just flake. Is that what MJT calls Shorline?
