Re: blonde on blonde
Had a few inquiries along the lines of 'you sure that's blonde and not oly white??'
Yes, I've verified that it's blonde over ash, but it can be super hard to tell from the pics as these 1959-1964 blonde finishes can be a bit hazy compared to their late 50's counterparts.
Here's a pic of the '63 blonde over ash VI alongside my 1960 Oly White JM - both 100% original...can you tell the difference?
(hint: you can just make out the ash wood grain on the upper body where the contour is, poking through the see-through blonde finish...)

Re: blonde on blonde
Often looking at the back makes this distinction much easier - you can see the grain on a blond/ash vs the opaque Olympic White. Photos don't often do justice.
Look carefully at my blond 60 and you can see some grain peeking through in the right arm area...

Gawd damn bterry... Having never played a Bass VI, and pining for/semi planning a refurb along the lines of that JM for the last short while, I now feel that I need both ...
Possibly the sexiest pic I've seen on the forum in my short tenure...
Salut!

Damn that thing is tasty. Posts like this are why I love this place. So much awesome vintage and custom offset done with so much taste and style.
I hope you and your new VI crush your studio sessions.

Re: blonde on blonde
wonderful! I wonder what kind of strings you have to use though... a music store employee told me they use normal bass strings but that sounds wrong to me...

I would never use regular bass strings on a Bass VI, they will not feel right and hinder you from playing chords.Luiz Spindola wrote: ↑Sat Mar 17, 2018 2:28 pmI wonder what kind of strings you have to use though...
Fender offers a Bass VI string set, but they tend to have a very loose feel on the low E. My suggestion will always be La Bella Bass VI strings, the best you can get. And they last like forever: http://www.labella.com/products/767-6f- ... ats-26-95/
