Music Boxes!

Post by Shadoweclipse13 » Thu Jun 30, 2016 8:39 pm

Anyone ever build one or buy a kit? I'm really tempted and I think they're cool as hell. Let's see them if you've got them!

I saw a kit at goodwill for $2. I passed on it tho.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

You should check out Hannah Peel if you don't know her, it takes her ten hours to punch each song.

She calls her musical box versions of songs Rebox versions and started with a seven inch of synthpop classixxx. You have probably heard her version of Tainted lovewithout knowing it since it gets used on TV a lot.

Some Rebox sessions

Palace (wild beasts cover)

Heaven How Long (East india Youth cover)

cars are in the garden (Paul Buchanan cover)

There was a thread in her original music a while ago, you might see her name pop up on records from time to time arranging strings or singing (she sings Diagram Girlon the new Beyond the Wizard sleeve) and she's also in The Magnetic North with Simon Tong formerly of the Verve.

As for the boxes A friend bought my kids one off Etsy originally but I've bought a Teanola movement and I've getting it put in a box atm. I've seriously looked at Street Organs as well, though the daddy is the Pin Barrel Harp.

Are you loathsome tonight?

I guess the question of the day is whether one can be made to fit into a Jazzmaster's trem cavity. You could keep it sneaky and repurpose the whammy bar as the handle. ;D

I had around 15 of these that all played different songs.
I nailed them to a plank of wood and would play randomly 1 -3 notes on each just to make a bunch of noise.

should have added a contact mic.
