Mystery instrument. Need help identifing

This was in a music videomyfauther in law was watching and he asked me if I knew what it was. I didn't have a clue and Google was no help. You guys know?

Oh, there it is. It looks like a Tar to me.

according to wikipedia, this is possibly where the "-tar" of guitar and sitar come from!
