Who has the Korg Minilogue synth?
I got mine about a week ago and as cool as it is, mine is defetive. it shuts itself off when i turn a certain knob clockwise. :/ So i am exchanging it for a new one. .
But after a week with it messing around I'm wondering if 4 voices is enough for me. I don't like how notes cut off when you play a 5th note. The entire envelope generator doesn't work on mine so I'm sure I am missing something but I feel like maybe I would prefer a synth with more features. More voices, more lfos and routing. Though the ones that have features I may be interested in are $1000 more.
I know these are brand new, but what are your thoughts about it? Or other analog synths with lots of routing and voices. I love the one knob per feature on the minilogue. I hate menu diving and I never really programmed soft synths because there's so much of it.

Oh, and I use synths for dream pop like music.

Me too. Every time!
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Hahaha same here.
I haven't tried the Korg yet but I hope to soon. I hope they put out a module version. I don't like smaller keys. How did you feel about the keys?

I read it as Minogue too.
It made me think of this (even though it's really just Dan Carey and Emiliana Torrini with K vocals). I remember a mate of mine shouting across a really snobby record shop; 'David, we've got that Kylie twelve yer desparate for'.

I really like them. Small keys don't bother me though. I get used to whatever keys are put on synths and controllers. These are like 86% the size of full size keys. So not the typical mini keys.OffYourFace wrote:Hahaha same here.

It has a ton of cool sounds. Ring mod, cross mod, sync, and wave shaping. There's a lot of generic demos though. Just going through the patches, which are pretty bland. I think this will be a hit for Korg. It's sold out most places already.
I may wait for my working minilogue to get here before I go looking for others. The filter EG doesn't even work on mine so I'm missing out on a lot of cool stuff I think.

4 voice is never enough for a poly synth...6 voice minimum is what you want to minimise note cut-off. I even find the prophet 5 annoying as it's 5 voice..great as it sounds of course.

Re: Who has the Korg Minilogue synth?
Yea so I returned my minilogue since it was defective, and now the minilogue is on back order for over a month too.
So I decided to get the Prophet 08 module instead. Lots more money but I already felt restricted with 4 voices, and the one lfo with three destinations.
The demos for the prophet sound amazing. 4 lfos and a modulation matrix with a ton of sources. Very excited.
Probably would have been content with the minilogue for a while if it hadn't died on me.

Re: Who has the Korg Minilogue synth?
I'm on wait list for one. 4 voices is tight but i have more polyphony from other synths. $499 is hard not to just get one. I'd much prefer to have a Prophet 6 or the new OB-6 but those are 6x the price. I was underwhelmed with the Volca Keys and I'm assuming the Minilogue is roughly the same synth engine. I've read on th forums that the envelopes reset with every keystroke and have artefacts (they click apparently) and that was a problem with the Monotribe too. So I'm excited to get one but also somewhat apprehensive.
