Any good online retailrs/stores in Boston for Combo Organs?

Post by stevejamsecono » Thu Dec 06, 2007 1:25 pm

Trying to nab one of these beauties on the relative cheap (Vox Continentals on ebay are stupidly expensive sometimes)... and have scoured everywhere. Any good online retailers or stores in the Boston area that would stock old, used combo organs from the 60s?
(I'd love a Vox Jaguar or Yamaha YC-20)

Anyone?

-Steve

Friendly request: could you guys take THAT particular bit of the discussion to PM? We like to keep all (even academic ;))trades off the general boards and in the appropriate section/private conversation.

And yes, if shipping were even remotely feasible I'd be all over this one myself ;). Never mind.

but in all serious, good place to nab organs that isn't canada? I really want one...

Are you aware of combo organ heaven and the associated mailing list (for some reason all stuff I find cool outside offset guitars is exclusively discussed on mailing lists rather than boards)? I'm sure dropping this question on that list may give you some good hints, though I from what I remember from the time I actively participatred there, most of those people get them from eBay and Craigslist. There's a cool shop in Australia (Mel's Music, I think, or something like that) that has much affinity for these things, though of course there too shipping would pretty much be prohibitively expensive.

The only thing I don't love about these things is that they are so damn unreliable and often hard to fix due to obsolete parts (except, apparently, the Yamaha YCs that are built like brick shithouses (hm, that cliché must die, I think). Have you considered this? I have a bit of a road accident feeling with this one, if you catch my drift...it's like it's totally evil yet still I can't stop watching it. But it would solve so many problems...

Hey Steve...  I don't think there is anything in the Boston Area.  Try craigslist, make a WTB ad and see what happens.  Another trick would be to search in the local Want Advertiser magazine.  Some of the old townies who don't have a computer still use it to get rid of their 'junk'.

Junk ftw.

Not a bad idea though. I will keep an eye on it.
