I get the whole "mother" theme they have going with their products, but...enough. I don't want to buy a stepmother from my father's brother and anything else they're planning on naming their synths.

Looks pretty cool, and even at 900 bucks, that's a big step down in price for a Moog with its own keys, no? I'm thinking of their voyagers. Behringer is for sure disrupting shit, but I feel like this has the potential to be a win for Moog.

Also, one could patch other shit in there, too, couldn't one? Seems like having some expandability makes it more attractive. The spring tank is a weird, probably expensive, arguably useless addition, but beyond that it looks pretty neat.

Agreed. If I thought a monophonic synth would be at all useful for me I'd totally get one. I absolutely love the design.

Minus the reverb tank, I do too. If I were bitten by the modular bug, this would be my entry point, I think, and comparing this to what eurorack would cost to get into, it seems like a pretty obvious first step. Moog's site says it's eurorack compatible. It's a great concept, and I hope they do well with it.

This video is pretty great, but to be fair, Justin Meldal-Johnsen can sell me just about anything.

This one is pretty fun, too, even if it is a bit conceptual.

And of course, the obligatory Stranger Things demo.

Those were good videos, and the thing just sounds gorgeous. There's a richness there that a lot of other 2 oscillator synths don't have, though I always feel like 3 is better for a mono synth because you can tune in chords.

I'm holding out for the upcoming Behringer oberheim clone, since the OB sound is the one I always come back to, but if I ever get bit by the modular bug this dude will be where I start.

Man, those oscillators sound so damn good.

At least they've stopped calling new things Phat, for the most part anyhow...

I like it! I think that with the integrated keyboard and nice spread out layout, this is much more interesting than the Mother-32. I love the looks, but the sound is like "Sci-Fi: The Instrument"

Sounds great, price point is great, dumb name though.

My dilemma is that I have all the functionality of the GrandMother spread out over three other analog monos, two of which are modules. Is it worth it to consolidate at least two of these into one GrandMother? I've been waiting for years for Moog to make this particular synth: two oscillators, sample & hold, oscillator sync, MIDI, noise generator, external filter access, VCA bypass, and sub $1000. My first good synthesizer was a Realistic/Moog MG-1 and I loved the format and aesthetic of that thing, but it had design flaws that kept it from being reliable. The new Moog really ticks off a lot of boxes for me. But I'm moving across the country later this year and could really use to not spend money and I've already got stuff that does what the Moog does, etc. It's why I didn't jump out and preorder. It is likely I will eventually get one.

What about that Behringer Neutron, anyone have thoughts on that one? It sounds pretty cool from the demos I've heard.

Can't speak for the Neutron. But the Model D is seriously amazing. I'm really loving it.

There will be 500 for Moogfest, but after that a regular release, so no worries.
