It'll be pretty cool having this one as all the ones in the US say Univox on them. This one just says minKorg-700.
I've wanted one for a long time because of the Cure and Johnny Jewel. And hey, let's all admit that it sounds pretty damn great on the first two Cars albums. I'm excited!

Well if that demo is a faithful representation, it does sound great, good find !

Wow, those minikorgs sound great!
As for me... My Juno is on the fritz. I was playing it and then all of a sudden, I noticed it was sounding distorted and incoherent, almost like it was being played through an overdrive pedal. Chords sound messy like they are overloading. Not fun.
Anyone know what that could be?

Op-amp in the output section? Does it do it when you turn the chorus off?

Re: The Synth Thread...
Yeah, does it regardless of whether the chorus is on or off. I've read about people experiencing crackling or distortion when engaging the chorus at times due to biasing, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here I don't think.
Might just have to drop it off at the synth tech.

Aaah I've still got the juno gas despite your issues. This is a strong one to deal with. I've heard them called "limited" but damned if I don't like every demo of them I've heard

They're super fun. I do kind of wish I had bought a Juno 60, but I still really like my 106. Every time I think I've figured it all out and think of it as limited or boring, I'll find a new sound in it that I just love. It's still one of my favourite synths.
Hopefully I can figure out a fix for the issues or that it's not too expensive.

Re: The Synth Thread...
My 106 sounds alive. That's the only way I can describe it. I would love to have one of the big American polys but there's a certain silky, kind of ethereal thing the Juno does that I'd miss if I let it go, and I'd have to in order to afford an Oberheim or Prophet.
I sent my circuit board to Rosen Sound in L.A. last year when the VCF/VCA chips started to crackle. They cleaned it up and shipped it back. No more crackle. Heh, except now my chorus is having issues crackling on the stereo jack. No problems in mono or from the headphone jack so it's likely I disturbed the connection to the stereo output. The headphone jack is a good workaround though.
I too preordered the Behringer Model D. The December release date came and went. My Sweetwater guy now says February or March. Just gotta be patient I suppose. My main goal for the next year is to start putting a modular together. For years I thought of one more or less in terms of buying a keyboard synthesizer but lately I've been wanting to put something together just to mangle audio and make random sounds. The buy-in for the case and power supply is a big leap. It's like having paying a lot to buy the frame of a car first and then letting it sit until you can afford to put in the engine, the seats, the steering, etc. It's what's kept me from going down that path so far, but next year I hope to begin building one.

Re: The Synth Thread...
Steven, are you running the normal output jacks or the headphone jack? If it's the normal output jacks. check the attenuator switch for the output.
It says Low Mid High or something. When these get dirty, they fuck everything up like that. VERY Common. You have to open it up to get access to spray cleaner in there.
If it's the headphones jack, for whatever reason, the HS-60 distorts easier than the 106. You have to keep the VCA slider low, especially when using chorus. My theory is they put in some sort of choke to prevent people from cranking the speakers too loud.

That did it, I think! I actually thought I was overdriving the input of the amp, somehow, so I fiddled with switch and now it's fine. And I use the output jacks, stereo, into two amps. Glorious 80s stereo cheese spread.
It's been a couple of days, so I'll try it again and see if that worked.

Re: The Synth Thread...
Who all is thinking of preordering the Behringer Model D? I've always wanted a Minimoog since the first time I saw one. Well, that won't be happening anytime soon (I also don't need anymore keyboards), so I'm thinking of going for modules for now on (I'd love the Korg MS20M or Arp Odyssey Module).
They're going to about $450 CAN, which is totally fair. My Roland SH-01a was the same price and I love that thing so much.
More on the SH-01a. I really do love that thing. Does it sound and behave exactly like the SH-101? No idea! But I do know that I absolutely love it's size and all the functions. I also love running the midi-out into the midi-in on my Juno 106. That way I can have both synths playing the same thing but with a different sound that I can then hard stereo-pan or just have a super thick mono sound. The Poly and Unison modes on the SH are also really fantastic. I seriously love it.
But yeah... The Model D. Yep. Need that.

Arturia just announced the Minibrute 2 witha huge patch bay, a second oscillator and the sequencer from their keystep, additional to the arpeggiator, not instead of it:

That thing looks great! I'm not a huge fan of their aesthetics, in general, but whatever. Great products, Arturia.Zork wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 4:05 amArturia just announced the Minibrute 2 witha huge patch bay, a second oscillator and the sequencer from their keystep, additional to the arpeggiator, not instead of it:

Re: The Synth Thread...
I've had a Model D on preorder since August. Musicians Friend said last week they'd have them. Now moved to this week. My Sweetwater guy still says weeks if not a month or two away.
The Minibrute 2 does like cool. That should sell like hotcakes.

I wish I could just start making payments on the UB-XA. With kids and a wife I can't save, and the money ends up getting moved around. If I made small payments that I couldn't take back, I'd be ready by the time it actually came out

I would expect at least until August for you to get your Model D. I was quoted July, but I doubt that.redchapterjubilee wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2018 8:06 amI've had a Model D on preorder since August.
