Re: The Synth Thread...
Beat me to it.
This is the best demo I've found so far, and I have to say, I'm not in love with it. Maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds cold and digital to my ears, not at all the analog warmth I look for in synths. Plus, for $2k, I'd much rather have a DSI Rev2.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

And yeah, for $2K, I'd just save up a bit more for a Prophet-6.

Re: The Synth Thread...
That prologue would be a cool synth for a grand or so. And since it's 2 grand ish, I dunno. Seems like it's trying to be a prophet for just a little less money all right.
I'll be interested if they try copping the oberheim sound on the cheap, though.

sounds good to me... also looks more user friendly than any of the DSI stuff, IMO.

Could be. I sat there the whole time thinking it sounded like a Prophet, but not as smooth and kinda brittle.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 7:48 pmsounds good to me... also looks more user friendly than any of the DSI stuff, IMO.

Re: The Synth Thread...
It sounded good, but yea that price is wack. I wish the minilogue sounded as good, I just don't need all the bells and whistles of the prologue

Re: The Synth Thread...
Behringer is coming out with a OB-X module, I believe. I'm definitely interested in that.mackerelmint wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 5:18 pmI'll be interested if they try copping the oberheim sound on the cheap, though.
The Korg? Meh... I really like the Monologue, which my brother has, really easy to use, sounds great, and every time I play it I find myself inspired to write really great basslines (though I would have loved it if it also came in a Minilogue size, with more keys). But this thing doesn't really do it for me, personally. It seems like it's trying to be a Prophet, but not quite getting there.
AND GUH, why is synth GAS now the thing in my life? I really want an Octave Cat but they're expensive and I really shouldn't be spending money. But of course now I want the ARP Odyssey Module Rev 1. Oh baby. I love the look of that...

Cool board, but at that price I'd turn to Dave Smith.

Re: The Synth Thread...
This thread got me curious about what all is out there, and I came across the Studiologic Sledge.

Pretty cool virtual analog board, now in black and under $1000. Lot of options in this category, but between this, the Roland System 8 and maybe a Dave Smith Prophet 08 (true analog), I'm torn! One plus for the Sledge is that it has the ability to load samples and the newest firmware has I think 24 voices of polyphony. Rather nifty.

Don't run so quickly: the product - if they decide to release it - is more then a year ahead of it's real availability. And having tried a Behringer Model D I'm not so excited: it'a plasticky piece of crap.

Re: The Synth Thread...
Really.
It resembled me the dashboard of a '70s Italian city car. Thus, the sound is quite good.
But for the assembly it would have cost half of the price requested.
