Does it have CV/Gate inputs?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

It does not. I wish it did! I don't really feeling like sinking hundreds into it to have it modded for it.

Re: The Synth Thread...
Hmm, that's kind of a bummer. Mine has it, and I like being able to run arpeggiators through it, or pairing it up with my plugins to dirty things up. That also frees up my hands to tweek knobs as I'm printing it down to an audio track. One downside to not playing it live is you lose the portamento option, but that hasn't been too much of a hindrance.

Re: The Synth Thread...
That's definitely something I would have preferred, but I wasn't thinking about what I'd use the Prodigy for when I bought it. It's a cool synth, for sure, but for my uses something would be more usable. Although a tad confusing, the Moog Grandmother is a really cool synth and playing one of those makes me wish the Prodigy was cooler and did more of what I have in mind with synths.
For me, it's still the Boog and Juno that are the winners in my brain. I'm such a shite keyboard player that having the ability run sequences makes workflow a lot easier for me. I'll hold onto the Prodigy until I can think of what I'd like more and then put it up for sale or trade.

Re: The Synth Thread...
As much as I love the idea of more gear, especially synth-related, how about building a desk that can house them all a little more comfortably, in the aesthetic of Moog, in either Walnut or Oak? Or even a shelf? Keep the aesthetic, ditch the synth you don't love...

Oh man, I've found Delptronics and I gotta give that guy some money. He makes a pretty cool analog drum machine he sells as a kit, and he also sells kits for the "bender sequencer", which is just a sequencer you can bodge in to stuff that wasn't meant to be controlled externally. There's a neat data sheet about the "extras" in my casio keyboard that are built in but don't have controls, and I think it'd be pretty fun to build a breakout box to control those. And maybe a sequencer? Oh man, it'd sound awful in the best way.

Re: The Synth Thread...
J, that furniture looks amazing! I wish I had better opportunities to do that kind of woodworking, but for me living in a condo and having nearly half the year being unfavourable weather, it's really only given me the opportunity to do that stuff in the summer and at my family cottage.
The more my life comes together as an adult, the less I care about gear or looks or public perception of it. I have cool gear and I have ugly gear and I really only care about the stuff that makes me feel good, play good, and sound good - and a lot of that has nothing to do with aesthetics. With that said, I'm a big fan of aesthetics and can appreciate it for what it is. I just try not to get too caught up in it.

Re: The Synth Thread...
Thanks guys!! I'm not quite as good as I want to be, but I'm trying to get there. Just focusing on doing things slow and correctly, you know? One thing I will say about my woodworking abilities/style that I'm quite happy about: even if you can see the oak plugs covering the screws (you can), my crap is built sturdy as fuck
That one's tough. I dealt with that for a long time, being in apartments (and small ones at that) with little to no space to work, places to store my stuff, or easy enough access to not make dragging tools out a 4-hour affair. Weather kinda sucks too. I did a bit of woodworking this winter freezing my butt off, but at least my current apartment has the option, since I've got a garage. You should look into buying the family cottage and making it your house
I totally hear you on that. I've mostly always been the type that doesn't care what people think about what I like, but to that end I've also had the slight advantage of mostly being a loner/outsider, where not many people were around to criticize my hobbies and other stuff I enjoy. I prefer functionality (or sound in this case) over aesthetics, but aesthetics is definitely a part of why I like something. The only reason I suggested building a desk is that you've mentioned a few times that you're not in love with your Moog. Your current desk looks great actually! I just think a music desk with the Moog aesthetic of brown stained/clearcoated wood end caps with a black face (desktop) would look killer, and would make you feel less bad about getting rid of a synth you don't love. Maybe just refinish your current desk instead of buliding new if that idea interests you?StevenO wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 3:11 amThe more my life comes together as an adult, the less I care about gear or looks or public perception of it. You've got such a unique sense of style/taste/point-of-view (I don't mean that derogatorily) that I can't tell if you're being serious or notmackerelmint wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 9:54 pmI love aesthetics and that's why I only wear Bugle Boy jeans.

I dig it For the record, I'm the least hip/with-it person you'll ever know. Especially for someone who's under 40 years old and doesn't have kids, i.e., I don't have an excuse for not being "with-it" beyond not giving a shit about trends and fadsmackerelmint wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 12:30 amNah. I was doing some Spring cleaning over the weekend, sadly decided to pack up the old Roland Fantom in it's flight case and put it away in storage. Coincidentally found some 20 years old Bugle Boys.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Well, shiiiiiit... the Moog Matriarch might be exactly what I've been pining for all these years!
