Re: The Synth Thread...
Sorry I'm so late to the party and if this has been discussed already, but I'm in need for a decent midi controller. I'd prefer something that plays nice with softsynths (mainly MTron, Oddity 2, and TAL U-NO-LX), with physical knobs or faders that can be assigned, or are automatically assigned to adjust parameters within the software as I'm recording/playing. I'd prefer 49 or 61 keys that are close to full size. They don't necessarily be hammer action, but a nice quality synth action would be great.
Any suggestions?
Also, while we're here, I should come out and admit I've fallen in love with the Prophet 6. So much so I'm considering thinning out my guitar collection to buy one.
Then again, I also really want a Wurlitzer 200A.

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Look for a used Yamaha KX61. They're great. It has a nice feel, a great arppegiator and they're like $100.

Why do I lust after synthesizers so much? I barely know how to play them and my attention span for properly fiddling with them is next to nothing.
I'm getting one of these (well, I already have it, but it's not opened yet) for Xmas. I need to lock myself in my music room for five weeks and really get to understand what they can do.

The Juno 6/60/106 format is the easiest way to learn. Everything is in the 'proper' order. There's only one oscillator per voice (that's why the chorus effect is there) but it's plenty to get started and make music with. The only real bummer about theses Roland modules is that they're only 4-voice units... you can only play 4 notes at a time. I personally really miss having 6 voices with a Juno synth but it'll be fine for you since you said you don't really play.
I don't really use my JU-06 much since I have a Juno 60 (that I'm about to mod for MIDI). I need to sell it I think.
