Re: The Synth Thread...
I think it's a Prophet, or something from the same company. The blue LED's on the clear wheels just make it. I'm considering doing something VERY similar to that for my Moog Mother and Roland System 500 when I get them. I'm hoping I can get that Juno-06 sound out of the Moog...

Re: The Synth Thread...
the last one is an SCI Pro 1. basically a mono voice version of a P5. they came in a plastic case with wood sides. I've seen a few of them in P5 style cases.
they're a pain in the dick to work on and tune sometimes... but they sound great. I believe the Pro 1 was used a lot on Yaz's upstairs at eric's

Oh yeah, looks like a Pro One. When I first saw it on my ohone, I thought it was a bunch modular parts and a keyboard controller put into one wooden case, which I think is pretty cool too.

To me, the Juno sound has a lot to do with Polyphony. The notes on their own can sound a little thin, but play chords and oh baby. I love my 106 for that very reason.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:I think it's a Prophet, or something from the same company. The blue LED's on the clear wheels just make it. Re: The Synth Thread...
Anyone know what synth LCD Soundsystem uses to get that HUGE analog bass/lead sound on their records?

Examples? Maybe we can kind of suss it out or at least find something analogous to it? I think they're modular peeps, aren't they?
That new American Dream song sounds like a Juno but it could always be a Prophet or some other polyphonic keyboard made of unobtainium.

Dance Yrself Clean.
I've got it set just before the BiG synth comes in. I think the synth before that is some kind of Prophet or Dave Smith, but then something gets huge.

Oooh, I'll check it out and see what I think it is. I like this kind of detective work. I'll figure this out for you, Maggie!

Re: The Synth Thread...
I'll bet it's either an EML Electrocomp 100 or a Roland SH-101. Both extensively used by James Murphy. My money is on the EML.

Any opinions of the Roland SE-02?

Re: The Synth Thread...
Sounds like an SH101 to me, not a Juno to my ears. Not sure about the EML.
As for the SE-02. It looks quite cool! There's some stepping in the filter which is kind of a weird thing to not try and fix. That alone makes me not want one.
If you're in the market for something Minimoog-like, I'd get the Behringer D. I'm getting one, for sure!

Agreed. That sounds like an EML Electrocomp 100 to me too. It’s got a pretty unique filter, and the octave is also very distinct.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: The Synth Thread...
I don't know, Todd. Re-listening to the track, I'm pretty sure it's actually a 2009 Fender '57 AVRI Stratocaster in black with a maple neck. Somebody should check to see if one is for sale in the for sale section here.
