Weird. Was it on eBay or reverb? It could’ve been an earlier 12-bit model (auto tune doesn’t work as well as the revised 14-but model).
A few months ago, we sold one to Mac Miller. He came in a few times himself. He was so sweet.

Yeah. I've got the arturia vst and as close as that is, a jupiter is nothing I'd take over a JV series synth to be honest.StevenO wrote: ↑Thu Sep 27, 2018 4:43 amI think at this point, while the Jupiter 8 sounds great, it's one of those '59 Les Paul kind of things. Something to have for the collection, something that will continue to rise in value, etc.
I wouldn't kick one out of bed, but I also don't particularly long for one either.
The jump happened very quickly this year...I bought mine in 2006 for £950 on ebay. I was the only bidder and thought I'd over paid..I got rid of it when I discovered the Voyetra 8 blew it out the water..it had a much nicer tone and did a lot more which conversely makes it horrible to program since you have 14 pages/layers on one set of controls!OffYourFace wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 2:42 pmLooks like JP8s are coming back down but just a bit.
I have my moments with them. I've repaired/restored quite a few in the last 6 months and once in awhile I'll fall in love with one. Sometimes I'll think to myself, Ehh... but they have a certain thing that I like.
I'd also love to own a Memorymoog... the biggest, fattest sounding poly synth of all time. For those who've never played one, each of the 6 voices is like a minimoog; 3 VCOs on each voice card and super tight EGs. I've restored many and yeah they are a total PITA but the sound is so deep.
