It's cool, but with that price tag it's in used Prophet 6/8 money...

Well, shiiiiiit... the Moog Matriarch might be exactly what I've been pining for all these years!
Wow! I'm tempted to ask Moog if I could trade my Grandmother in for one, since it's in Ashville getting repaired right now.

I saw the article Reverb made about it and thought it sounded awesome. The Grandmother really piqued my interest, but I think the Matriarch sounds better, almost like the Grandmother was a test run/demo for the Matriarch.

I'll be honest, I've been tempted to sell my AJH Synth Mini-Mod Eurorack modules to fund a Matriarch... I don't know that I really want to, as the Mini-Mod is based on a MiniMoog Model-D very specifically, but I'm still tempted...

EDIT: Just noticed something. Does the Matriarch not have the spring reverb that the Grandmother had? I remember that was a pretty well-liked feature of the Grandmother...

Yes, I noticed that too. I wonder if this was a packaging issue, or something they felt wasn’t wanted.

I was looking through pictures of the synth face itself and I don't see the reverb anywhere. I could be missing it as the pictures I've seen so far aren't the greatest resolution, but I don't think it's got a reverb. To be honest, the stereo bucket brigade delay sounds wonderful, and I could always add a reverb to it through pedals or Eurorack modules, so it's not that big of a deal to me. It's just too bad it doesn't have both.

Yah, it's not in there. I've heard reports people had issues with noise from the wall wart power causing audio bleed from the spring reverb and other reports of loud dB's from stage use bleeding through. I've not experienced any of that with my Grandmother. It could be Moog kept the reverb exclusive to the Grandmother to give people a reason to have both synths. I know for my interests I can plug the synth into any number of delay pedals I own but I have no other patchable spring reverbs. I'd rather have the reverb but I can certainly see the attraction to the onboard delay. I need to go downtown and play the Matriarch. It specs out like a modern day Mono/Poly and I'm sure it's fun to play.

IIRC, the Moog Matriarch has an analog delay in lieu of the 'verb. I fail to see a problem.

I'd rather have reverb on a Poly synth and analog delay on a Monosynth. Though I don't really care for spring reverb on synths in general. Hall, plate, modulated, sure!

Sounds like time for a Eurorack module!

I keep watching that Moog Matriarch video and think it might be my first hardware synth. I see that it's got a "hold" button just behind the mod/pitch wheels. Does anyone know if that "hold" button is for the arpeggiator, like a Juno-6 has?

I've been putting off listening to the Matriarch demos as much as possible. I still don't want it, but it really does sound stupidly good for a new synth.

As for the hold button, I would imagine it is for the arpeggiator.
