Ok. This is pretty fun. Really wish I had an iPad though. Pretty hard to navigate on my tiny phone.

I have been tasked with writing and recording a 60 second song tomorrow. I think this will feature prominently.

Cool, thanks.

I also have a couple of other good synth apps - animoog and synth one, in case anyone’s interested in checking those out at the App Store.

The synth one is free and open source, don’t know if the animoog is still free.

I have so many iOS music apps and many of them are really good but I've never used them ever in any actual composition. There's also some issue with either controlling them or outputting them that messes the process up. I have borderlands and it's so filled with promise, yet getting sounds in and out and keeping things synched, something just always goes wrong.

I haven’t messed around with going direct (thru usb) with anything, except for my recording interfaces themselves. I figure that I’ll run into those same problems if I try, and I don’t need the additional frustration and time spent trying to figure it out. Everything is either mic or direct with 1/4” cable.

I also don’t record anything in layers, it’s all done as a live capture, because I’m not really very good/experienced at DAWs or recording in general. I don’t play synth, either, I just dick around with them on my phone once in a while.
Nice idea, though.

As a possible workaround, could you hook your phone or iPad up (Bluetooth or 1/8” cable) to a full range speaker, like a Bose, and record that with a mic? May not be as clear, but it may be useable.
