Stand Suggestions for Smaller Keyboards?

Post by Unicorn Warrior » Sat Oct 20, 2018 2:18 pm

I have a deepmind6. Not terribly small, but too small to use on another stand we have.

Just looking for something not terribly expensive.

well i'm going to bring this one back from the dead. i don't know if you're standing or sitting for this, but i have a nord modular g1 keyboard in my studio, and i have it as a main controller in addition to using it for it's modular magic. i sit when i do keyboard stuff generally, so i have it sitting on one of those ikea laptop stands (Vittsjö). fits perfectly. i'll see if i have a pic

Expensive: “Column” style stands such as the Ultimate Apex type can work well for a variety of keyboard sizes - I’ve used them for keyboards as small as a Roland SH-09, Korg Minilogue, or Roland System-1 without issue, due to the way the “forks” / arms branch out from a central column. . But they’re not cheap.

Cheap: Section of 1 x 12” board or a piece of plywood spray painted black to give the keyboard a bigger “base” to sit on with your existing stand. Bonus: extra room for effects units, drum machines, desktop synths, or beer.

This is exactly what I was thinking. You could even spruce it up too. If you got some wood about the size you wanted, you could make an underhang of wood (like a skirt piece, maybe a few inches lower than the top), and then cover it in black amp tolex or vinyl. It would look classy, and could be shoved into a closet or under a bed if you needed the space for something else temporarily...
