So, as someone who is not a drummer I hate spending money on drums/accessories. To that end, I saw this and decided to make my own. Granted, mine's not as pretty...but theirs doesnt cost $3
I'm working on a mesh head snare and remote hi hat next.

Also, used steel rings from old heads are great for arts &crafts gifts. Here's one I knocked out last night.

Got my cable remote hi hat prototype working but it's ugly. Will head to hardware store for more bits to make it look better. Right now it's just junk I had lying around like pvc and zipties.

Re: DIY drum stuffs.
got my mesh head e-drum conversion done last night at 4am.
here's the snare
mesh is just vinyl screen door material from home depot. had some lying around from when i redid our house windows.
and i mounted the piezo trigger with velcro right to the internal muffler which means i can raise or lower it to change sensitivity. Used magic eraser for foam between head and trigger.
works great...just no rim trigger which is fine for me, i can sort that bit later.

The most I've done is made my own hot rods and re-covered some mallets.
I just glued and taped some dowels together for the hot rods. They don't last as long as the real deal, but way cheaper.
For the mallets I just wrapped some felted sweater material around the heads and sewed it down. Worked great and adds a touch of color.

Start of my DIY cocktail kit. Using stainless steel lugwig toms, homemade remote hi hat and reverse bass pedal. Need to get head for floor Tom obviously...also need to flip the floor Tom over so it's not raised on bits of wood. And I'll have to create a standalone foot control for the hi hat so it not so bulky.
