Anyone here have/play a Q-Chord (Omnichord)?

All instruments that aren't guitars (or bass guitars).

Anyone here have/play a Q-Chord (Omnichord)?

Post by Pacafeliz » Thu Nov 16, 2017 9:52 am

Well it seems that i have just hit the BIN on one of these. They are ugly as fuck, but I've been GASing like insane for an Omnichord for YEARS now, and i think it is a good songwriting/performing tool, too - that's just what i need.

I see they are quite a bit cheaper in the Americas, over here they are pretty damn rare, so i might have paid a bit too much (?) but way less than on the official page where it's like 370 brit pounds, or something.

So... any experience with these here, someone? Worth it? Just as good, better or worse than the original Omnichords?
I went for the new one since the old ones seem to have a problem with the "scratchpad" suddenly dying?

We'll see how it goes.

Rock on,

Pat.
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

I had one that my grandmother gave to me. It was a ton of fun! Unfortunately a friend of mine dropped it from chest height onto carpet and it never worked again. Treat it with love!

All I know is that Brian Eno has a bunch of them and loves 'em.

I've had both an OM-27, and an OM-84.
They're fun things to play with, and can be kinda useful, but a little one trick pony sometimes, so use it sparingly.

Both mine were working perfectly, but I had heard the rumours about the dying ribbon.

I picked up an old-style Omnichord once but thought it was a bit at the Bontempi end of the instrument scale so didn't keep it for long. I thought he glissando pad was definitely the best thing about it, though having seen Beautify Junkyards using one maybe they're more worthwhile than I thought.
