Wow. What model is this? A proto 4000 or something (if that even exists)?

Very nice and clean design!

I love Ric basses and I got a 4001 clone for a long term loan (a possible purchasde too if I manage to pursue the owner....) wich is pretty ugly mod:ed, but not "unrescueable".
I'd love to slam some original Ric pups and covers on it. The ugly/poor aftermarket tuners are also one thing that needs proper replacements. Enough with hijacking.
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

FUCK.  That's the only thing that I can think of that expresses how cool that bass is.  Seriously.  If I were a bass player it would begin and end right there.

Looks like a late '50s/early '60s 4000 Model.

I've only seen or played two of those ever in my decades of playing and collecting.  Cool bass!

Weird knobs and guard, this is really nice.

Rickenbacker basses are the tits. I have '74 4001 in fireglo and it's by far the finest bass ever. Yesyes bold statement.

I remember that one!  :-*

It have been disscussed here before and it is (as said) a late 50's/early 60's 4000.

Another one here (or even the same):
