Very nice! It's not really my usual style of music but I like it
I really like the ambiance and the drum pattern and fills^^ very relaxing!

One critic though : I wouldn't have double track vocals on the verses, but that's only my humble opinion of course!

Wow, I just ran through the stuff you've got on Soundcloud and its all good! The guitar tones are great but I'm especially loving the bass sounds, you've done a great job recording and mixing them. I also should add that as tempting as it is to prepare listeners by suggesting an artist guide post, you don't really need to do it with your stuff. Maybe if you were going for something blatant ("Watch me plug my Strat into a Tubescreamer and rip like SRV!") but your stuff is unique enough to stand on its own. I don't know what the answer to the ideal release question is but I hope you do it in some capacity!

Thanks guys, I appreciate that. I'm trying hard to curb the disclaimers when it comes to presenting my music to people because of the encouragement I've been getting from everyone here. This thread has been pretty therapeutic in that sense, boosting my confidence that I'm doing something 'worthwhile'. This song will be included in a 5-song EP I'm working on releasing in the (hopefully) near future, if I can scratch enough money together to have it properly mixed and mastered.

Thanks!!

No band. I just sit in my little studio and work away like a mad scientist in his laboratory. I've been in lots of bands growing up, but NEVER as the focal point, especially as the singer or songwriter; in fact I've never really played guitar in a band, always keys (Rhodes, usually). It's been a long time since I've been in a band, and the years since have been filled with a career and a family: both good things! I don't have much interest in necessarily getting back into a band situation, but I do miss it a lot. Sometimes. My main motivation for releasing an EP is just to have some movement in the end game. I've been recording at home for so long and no one ever hears any of it, which seems like a waste.

Strong musically. You really know how to get a great guitar sound. I also have to agree with Soggasaurus, the bass is outstanding.

You show exceptional restraint in your music - It all fits together well and the guitar always adds so much without being over the top. Really great stuff!

After revisiting the song with fresh ears, I think you're right. I remixed it last night, pulling the doubled lead vocals down in the verses and it's much cleaner. Thanks for your advice! I'll repost the new mix later tonight if time permits.

Cool, I'm always glad to help if I can ;)
I have a hard time mixing vocals myself so I'm quite sensitive to this now^^
You're right, good mixes need time. Waiting to hear the remix!

Fuckin' hell, man. You have no need to offer disclaimers and you should be nothing but proud of what you are offering to us. I wish that I could be where you are right now. I'm working on it.

Strong stuff.

Man. I love the arrangement. I think you really have something to be proud of with "Circus Souvenir." Wish I could get some of my stuff to have the sound quality and varied instrumentation you have with that song. Really well conceived.

Oh wow, thanks! I really appreciate your kind words. I've got some new stuff I'm working on, but have been suffering through a bit of a creative low. This isn't new, I tend to have cyclical patterns of inspiration. If the past is any indication, I'll have a breakthrough soon and the floods will open back up.
