Re: Logic 9
I think you can upgrade from express for $299, which isn't that bad. It's going for $499 new I think.

Hmm, 300, I think I might do that. And get an apogee solo, maybe duet.
Have you seen that new apogee thingy?

Yeah, that controller thing? Looks interesting, don't think I'd have much use for it though. I am thinking about getting a Duet though, might have to start a thread on that.

$99 to upgrade from Logic Express 8, not bad. Might have to get this soon.BenHagerty wrote:http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB788?mco=NzM5NDEyOQNBarnes21 wrote: anyone know if they're gonna release an express version?

I think I might go for the 300 dollar one down the road, not a bad deal. Need to save my moneys though

The pedalboard looks nice, but they copied the "new" audio editing features from Ableton.

The new audio quantize feature as well as creating sampler instruments (w/ MIDI file) is also an Ableton thing (which they in turn originally took the idea from Recycle.
The Flex Time editing is just like the Melodyne stuff (but stripped down for streamlined use in Logic)
The Drum Replacer is a direct take from Pro Tool's Drum Replacer.
As a loyal Logic user that always drooled at these features in other DAWs, I'm thrilled
Also although I never really used Mainstage, the new features in MS are amazing.
Kudos to Apple for this upgrade.
I'd still like to see an updated EXS Instrument Editor (a la Keymap), an updated modeled Channel EQ and a streamlined Ultrabeat interface.
Also the upgraded Comp Tracks editing capabilities are having me jump for joy.
My upgrade kit comes tomorrow. !

Re: Logic 9
I upgraded as soon as it came out, it's a nice upgrade and the Amp Designer is nice but I've already got Guitar Rig and Pod Farm so I'm using them. The flex time stuff is cool, if a little fiddly. Useful for nudging notes/chords/words into place. Quantising audio is ok but it's better to get a decent performance in the first place
Uses more system resources than 8, really notice it with BFD2.
Oh yeah, the vari-time is very handy for getting tricky solos in...
