I've been considering messing around with EZDrummer again, this would be a good opportunity. Thanks for the heads up.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Re: EZX sale grab some for 22 bucks
How is EZ drummer?
I want to go more virtual. Is so hard to find drummers to work with...im pretty stuck on experimental acoustic sounds though, and not going too hard into screen twiddling/programming.
But would be better suited than my volca drum for sure as current demo tool
Would be good to have demos sounding more like the final aim.

I was really skeptical too, but jumped in and its super easy to use. They have hip hop, dream pop, electronica expansion that are more electronic based drums. Really good midi patterns. I just got the Dream Pop pack and you can do any type of electronic based music...you can fiddle as much as you want, but I really just find the closest sound and then drop the patterns into my Studio One DAW....easy, really easy.
Best investment I made in two years...go for it

I'll check out the dream pop pack. I got the alt-rock pack as i was swayed by Albini talking about mics. Am kind of making Dream Pop/shoegaze but its non-generic, sometimes heavy and might be interesting plus still got the Volca. Was interesting using timpani or apparently a fill from "50foot queenie" slowed down and put through an amp sim. But was good to play along to, yeh, enough like playing with drummer.
Ive been complaining drummers dont have time for writing and practicing, the good ones anyway. Embracing virtual also got a Matlock amp sim. So the mic i may sell for it could pay for it, only leaving mics for acoustic/piano/vox.

Re: EZX sale grab some for 22 bucks
The Dream Pop and Pop packs have some good electronic drums mixed with acoustic drums....you want to load up on midi packs. They are relatively cheap at 29 bucks for EZX midi, but check out Groove Monkey. Why?
More midi pack s equal more drum patterns to pair with your drum sounds. The two expansion they give are good, couple that with some Linn drum sounds, you would be good to go. I just went heavy on the 70's drum packs, and the classic rock packs.....have at it.

I'm thinking what styles i may need. Dreampop sounds good and may have got that over the Alt-Rock, so that might be next.budda12ax7 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 5:16 pmThe Dream Pop and Pop packs have some good electronic drums mixed with acoustic drums....you want to load up on midi packs. Krautrock? I'd love that but type of thing would be easy to tap in using a 'prog' kit or something- the motorik beat!
I also found the way to input a quantised tapped beat via keyboard though. Of course, my sucking at drums, would mean they aren't the normal side of things!
So finding more beats like the free ones from Groove Monkey---then perhaps some input of 'individual style' is I tap in a single drum from the kit and good to go.
