Basic question about mic noise

So I've been using an sm57 and 58 for a few years and recently decided to step up to a better mic. I decided I wanted an LDC first, so I got an AT4033 used off reverb. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's my lack of knowledge concerning condenser mics, but I've been having some issues. The mic works perfectly...sometimes. Unless the cable is positioned perfectly, it gives me a loud noise, very similar to the noise that you get when you touch a guitar cable that's plugged into an amp without a guitar attached. I'm using the same interface and mic cable that I use my other mics on, so I don't think it's either of those. Perhaps I am just used to the more robust shure mics, but this seems a lot more finicky than I anticipated. Is it the mic or am I simply using it incorrectly?

Nothing about that is as it should be, I am going to speculate that it kind of sounds like you are having a grounding issue with the microphone.

Maybe unscrew the capsule and see if anything looks loose in there? Put up a picture and maybe that can help.

Those are good mics, though.

I left for work right after posting this, just took it apart. Yeah, you were right. One of the wires connecting to the xlr pins was almost completely off. I soldered it again and now it's all good. For my uses (acoustic) it is a rather significant step up from the sm57 I've been using for a looooong time.

So, now we've got the mic sorted, didn't you get a D-18 recently? I was kind of hoping to hear more about that.

I did, a few months back actually, I just haven’t been on here as much recently. I’ve been selling/trading a lot of acoustics the past few months and it honestly blows every other acoustic I’ve ever had away. So much so that it made my 00018, which I loved, completely redundant.
