Multitrack Recorder Appreciation?

Post by TeenageShutdown! » Tue Nov 21, 2017 11:13 am

Hey Y'all.

Yes, I realize what decade it is but I can't let go of my multitrack recorder!

Over the last couple decades I've had a Boss BR-532, Boss BR-1600, and a Tascam MF-P01. I've been currently using a Tascam DP-01 the last 7 years. Primitive by todays standards sure, however they suite my musical needs (and budget) just fine. I just love the simplicity & fun these machines provide.

Show your multitrack recorders & share some love!

I still have a Tascam Porta 02. Love that thing. I don't use it much these days but it still works great. Such a different experience compared to these days. It's a beautiful thing to force ones ears (and mics!) rather than relying on visuals, plug-ins, etc. Getting harder to find tapes though...

I’m in a long term relationship with a Tasman 488mkii I can operate it with my eyes closed so I often get vocals takes in complete darkness.

Idk if you have one near you, but walgreens, rite-aid, and other drug stores seem to be the only place that sells them in my area.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Last time I stocked up it was at a Walgreens, irrc. It was a few years ago though. Always seemed like my local stores would have them at time and other times there was like no sign of blank cassettes anywhere. Confused by the inconsistency. :D

I'm rather partial to the Studer A827.

I also quite like the Ampex MM1200, for different reasons
