Basic studio monitors???

Post by budda12ax7 » Sun Mar 19, 2017 4:44 pm

Looking to get some basic monitors for my small recording setup...I've looked at mackie and the presonus, but looking to spend from 100-200 bucks for powered monitors. Just curious to hear what works for everyone...

Do they need to be powered?

Yorkville YSM-1s are my favorite.

I got a pair of first-generation KRK Rokit 5-inch powered speakers at Guitar Center for $100 each. Been using 'em for years as nearfield monitors in my home recording rig. Newer Rokits are third-generation now, with wider bass ports & curved sides to reduce internal standing waves. Lots of controls on the back if ya wanna fiddle with parameters. Quite the decent little monitors if you're on a budget, lots of bang for the buck.
