Ampeg scroll...guitar?
I always like the looks of the Ampeg scroll bass and now and then I hear of someone making a guitar with that body shape, but I've never seen one.
another design I like is the Aria TS series, with the 5 piece neck-thru design.
and I been more interested in getting a short scale guitar....
so, can you imaging this combo-
Scroll shape body, constructed like the Aria with a short scale neck-thru,
with the Scroll bass, the pickguard kinda makes the aesthetics...with that neck-thru, maybe a slipt pickguard would work
like this, but still keeping the Scroll PG shape
not sure what kind of pickups I'd put in something like this monstrosity.
if someone has photoshop skills and nothing better to do, I'd like to see if these ideas would work

Re: Ampeg scroll...guitar?
maybe I wasn't clear trying to explain this...
I'd like to see a guitar made, with the body shape of the Scroll,
with neck-thru construction and short scale,
with a split pickguard.
not sure what sort of pickups,
I'm curious about Charlie Christians, and just played some Fidel'trons recently.
And Lollar Broilers seem pretty nice

Something like this?
neck through scroll guitar by rob_dux, on Flickr
I reduced the size of the body quite a bit so that it wouldn't look ridiculously massive with a 24 inch scale length.

I'd probably just use a normal headstock, but YES!RobDux wrote:Something like this?

this is exactly what I had in mind, I appreciate that you took the time to draw it up, thanks a lot!

won't be anytime soon, but I think I'm gonna get something like this built for me in the future.
not sure if I like how the split pickguard is, but for sure I like the idea of a short scale neck thru design.
the all over PG makes me think of the Godin Radiator, which came in a bunch of neat colours
Probably do an all maple neck and board.
swimming pool route so I can plop any type of pickups in it.

Re: Ampeg scroll...guitar?
today I was at the library and found a book on electric guitars.
there was a pic of an Ampeg Scroll guitar!
I've seen tons of pics of different basses, but never a guitar.
the body was more offset with a fatter butt, kind of like the shape of a starcaster.
3 on the side scroll headstock. sort of a mustang tremolo
and 2 gretsch style single coils.
can't seem to find any pics online...next time I plan to go to the library, I'll try to snap a pic from the book.

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.
