Jazzmaster bridge covers

Post by onnipuustinen » Fri Mar 06, 2015 3:29 pm

I was just wondering if you guys liked the look of snap-on bridge covers on Jazzmasters? I personally think they make the guitar look a little too polished and smooth, I think the bridge should be visible in all it's technical beauty! I've also heard that they make palm muting harder.

Let me know what you think. You love 'em, you hate 'em? Why?

Like the Telecaster ashtray - it pretty much invalidates palm muting on the bridge. It also makes the twang/surf picking right next to the bridge impossible.

I do like the look though.

I love how they look and always keep them on! Jazzmasters and Jaguars don't look complete without the cover to me. I also keep the mute on. It is a pain to try and get that to work but it sounds awesome. I don't palm mute at all though so the cover is never a problem. I like to rest my hand there when I play as well.
I like the tele ashtray, the strat bridge cover, as well as the jazzbass cover. I didn't even know those guitars had covers until this year since I have never ever seen anyone play with them.

With bridge covers I usually think that it's more an easthetic than functional thing for me... I mean, besides it looks gorgeous, I can't find any functional nor tonal improvement with the cover... But maybe there is!
