Opinions on gold pick guard and black plastics?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help give some opinions on changing the look of my guitar. I recently bought a Surf Green JM66 and now I'm thinking about making it more my own.
I'm looking for peoples opinions on the green plus gold pick guard and whether white or black plastic look best with that combination, I've added a couple of pics that I made with the dressing room to help a bit.
and my guitar can be seen here: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... =6&t=84006" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (excuse the damn flash)
Thanks
also, here is what it would like like with just black covers

White pu covers. Black is drawing too much attention to the pups.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Not my cup of tea....silver and gold combination would be my issue with this one.

Well, I think it's gorgeous. Silver + gold + black works a treat IMO. I particularly like the black screws on the gold guard. I've done the exact opposite: gold screws on the black anodized guard of my Shoreline Gold Jag.

The problem is me, in part, plus the pick guard doesn't really fit properly. I had to sand the damn pickup holes so that the covers would fit, and I sanded a bit much (you can see a gap in the pick guard). It's not a big deal, I might use it, I might to back to the plastic one, I might buy another one (I like the gold).lewismayell wrote:
What kinda problems are you having?
Mainly, I bought it because it's aluminum which is supposed to help with shielding. And it in fact did on one of my Firebirds:
So it it seems to work as I'm hoping regarding that, then I'll keep the aluminum pick guard.

The gold guard isn't half bad there, but I really love a white pickguard over the surf green--with white PUP covers too. Just my two cents. As an alternative, you could do something like this, which might look really nice over the surf green.
