What model is this jazzmaster?
I read somewhere that it's a 59 with a black pickguard but I havent found any more information on it.

Looks to me like a '62 AVRI or japanese reissue with a blackguard added.

Re: What model is this jazzmaster?
I'd say AVRI judging by the non-shiny trem-lock button, round opening in the plate for the collet, fairly 'square' edge profile and awful 'aged white' plastics.

i may be showing my ignorance regarding slide playing here but surely you wouldn't keep your pick in the strings at the first fret?

Hard to tell but those look like real clay dot inlays.

Maybe he does it to not have to worry about muting those strings so that they do not ring out? I cannot play with a slide, so it is just a wild guess.bdf83 wrote:i may be showing my ignorance regarding slide playing here but surely you wouldn't keep your pick in the strings at the first fret?

^ If he's always fretting below that fret it shouldn't be a problem…

Re: What model is this jazzmaster?
Surely these knobs make it a Japanese model?
EDIT: I guess it could be a '62

I know more about Alex's other Jazzmaster than this one, never sure if it was Vintage or Brand New. It always bugged me, I should really do some research into it

Re: What model is this jazzmaster?
It's not a reissue. Check the curved transition from the fretbord to the headstock, the decal placement and the clay dots. 59 seems like a good guess.

I'm no expert, but yup, it's a 59. Pat. Pend. tremolo!
