Jazzbird with offset blocks

Excitingly, for anyone as OCD as me, I've worked out the dimensions for making offset blocks like these so that they have a consistent surface area - they get wider and thinner moving up the neck but stay the same area. The above image is only an approximation but it works. I think having inlays on 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 15 only looks a bit weird if you have centred inlays:

This inlay design was partly inspired by:

(Not just this guitar, there are loads of old archtops with this kind of design.)

The general idea arose from having the blocks showing on the side of the neck, negating the need for side dots.

Whatdya think?

p.s. thanks to S(((O)))NE whose headstock I copied and pasted and messed around with - thought I'd better disclose that!

I like the idea, but personally I prefer the plain old standard block inlays.

Nice. All that walnut plus blackguard is one of my favorite finishes, but throw in all that metal bling in there... :?

I also like your inlays. Reminds me of Hofner inlays (another personal fav).
