Charcoal Frost JM
Here's my fav JM. Maybe ill do this in a future project.
Took a little bit of photoshopping to get it perfect
Oh please dont suggest black PUP covers, those are
the most ugly things that can happen to a JM
The aged covers will look a little darker than the dressroom
ones, im sure it will match perfectly.
The pickguard is black anodized. Never saw one even
on picture

Justin (aka ilovesharinfoo) made his own black anodized pickguard but I think he's since sold the guitar it was on. Maybe he still has pics though...

Re: Charcoal Frost JM
Get a piece of sheet metal NC routed to JM pickguard shape, get it chemically treated to your preferred color.
There are plenty of small sheet metal shops that could do this for you, probably for a price close to that of a gold anodized plate, depending on material/labor costs.
Good luck!

Re: Charcoal Frost JM
check out these guys:
http://www.sharp-concepts.com/
they can anodize in most any color (including black), and they have templates for both american an japanese jazzmaster pickguards. i have one of their guards (actually the first JM one they ever made) and it's very well made. just stay away from the "gold" anodizing. it's not gold.

Yup i like that aspect too I hope it'll be possible to get a nice dark fretboard from USACG.
I think the guitar would also look well with a dark/brown tort guard like my sunburst avri has
if the anodized guard turns out to be hard to get.

Edit:
and let me ask your opinion. Would a pick guard that is anodized purple be too much on an ice blue metallic JM with black knobs and pickups?
like that purple on the top left.
this is a poor photoshop, but something sort of like this

Re: Charcoal Frost JM
I think a black anodised guard on my oly white would be dreamy.
