Refinishing a B&B CIJ is typically a lot more expensive than putting together a partsmaster, unless you have the skill/time to strip the poly finish yourself (which is a TON of work). I'd assemble it piece by piece. Musikraft is a great source for USA-made B&B necks (Warmoth has the wrong blocks, USACG doesn't do B&B last I checked, and those Chinese eBay necks are a risk I wouldn't personally take). Bodies are plentiful from a much wider variety of sources.

The nice part about partsmasters is that you can collect the pieces slowly, wait for deals, etc, if you are so inclined.

I just asked about USACG doing an all-rosewood bound jaguar neck. They don't offer binding on their website, but they are willing to do it (with a longer turnaround time). I know this is a maple-necked bound AND blocked JM neck, but you might want to ask USACG for a quote if you go partsmaster.

The problem is that paying someone to strip poly is super expensive because it's so labour-intensive. Stripping poly usually costs as much or more than the new finish you're having sprayed. Considering an MIJ body costs similar amounts to any other finished partsmaster standard JM body, you're basically paying for a finished body, then adding stripping and finishing costs, potentially tripling your costs compared to a partsmaster body.

I have a few partsmasters (MJT and Warmoth bodies). My MJT Jag body cost me $375 US for the whole shebang. Stripping and finishing an MIJ body would have been over $400 + the cost of the actual MIJ (I know because I had been considering refinishing my MIJ until I priced it out).

This is pretty bang on other than the relicing and rhythm circuit...

I'd also check out Guitar Mill. They run specials all the time, and on almost every holiday. I got a jazzmaster body made and finished through them. It took a long time, but the price was right and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Don't forget Musikraft. They make accurate CBS-era B&B necks which seems to be what you're after. They can also export rosewood necks to Quebexico (for an extra $20 for the CITES certificate), which isn't something every company is willing/able to do currently.

That $195 doubles in no time with a couple three options added! Accuracy costs...
