Long time lurker...

Post by deadsound » Thu Dec 27, 2018 11:57 am

Been lurking this forum for years, thought I'd join up and share the fun!

Just put half down on a 1994 MIJ Jazzmaster!

I've owned the same year and color MIJ Jaguar for years, finally got a JM!

Wow - Actually I'm more interested to hear about the System 1 Strat :) I have a CAR MIJ Jag myself.
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

Not of particular interest to me considering the deal they gave me on the JM and all the other great stuff they have, but if you email strumguitarspdx@gmail.com, I know they'd be really accomodating!

EDIT: I just realized you thought it was mine! I took the shot at the shop I'm buying the JM from bc I'm still making payments, so that Strat is actually for sale.

There's something about matching headstocks that's just so right on offsets. I have a '94 MIJ jag which was my first Offset 16 years ago, also with a matching headstock. Fantastic guitar. I bet this JM also rocks. Congrats!

Nice jag! I love the MBV tort-on-red look.

Did you add that lipstick behind the bridge yourself? Sweet!

My '94 MIJ is modded as well, but not "as" modded as yours:

Wow! I NEVER come across Jags/JMs(EDIT: in my price range :'( )in anything other than red. Lake Placid Blue would be my choice if ever I had one. Beautiful Jag. What pickups are in there?

I did install that lipstick behind the bridge myself. Not the best routing job, unfortunately, but good enough for a guitar I'll never sell! I've got it wired to the horn controls, deleting the lead circuit, and then my lower bout pickup selectors are wired to do in parallel/series/out of phase.

And I love the red on red MBV thing, too, obviously. Actually it's what motivated me to finally register here. I really want to find a decent red tort pickguard for the JM. All I can find anywhere are weird cheap printed ones or super expensive but awesome nitro ones.

Yeah, the rarity of the blue Jag (especially in 2002 when I bought it on a relatively young website called eBay) is what made me jump on it. Had to be imported from Japan.

Like yours, my pickups are wired with the series mod, but I left the rhythm circuit intact. The pickups are Novak's Guyatone goldfoils in a surface mount form. They were riveted directly to the pickguard (from Pickguardian) by Curtis and therefore didn't require any routing to the body..that guard just dropped right onto the guitar.

Tort pickguards for MIJs are a bit tricky, and options are a bit more limited since they differ from USA spec. I hope you can find something you're happy with. My only JMs are AV65 and Warmoth so I'm afraid I don't have any pointers on that front.
