New JMJM owner and offset noobie

Post by mpeskett » Tue Feb 27, 2018 3:49 pm

Hey there,

I signed up here recently whilst research a new guitar purchase. I was torn between an offset or a Gretsch Electromatic, but after playing the latter I just wasn't quite taken with them, but I played a JMJM and fell in love. So much mojo, as everyone seem to attest to.

So I bought one yesterday and I'm planning a couple of upgrades in due course, namely the wiring and the bridge (Staytrem).

I may as well ask here rather than create a new topic just yet, but what in your opinion are good pickguard colours to go with the Aged-White body colour on the JMJM? I love the look of the red tort, but I also like the look of a white or off-white colour. There are a lot of options there: white, eggshell, parchment etc. What kind of combo works great there in your opinion? I'll most likely order from Stratoshpere - are they a good store?

Thanks!

Mark

Hello! ;D
Just try your gold one - another pickguard could be more noisey on your jazzmaster...
I really like the gold. It gets some nice wear when you play it some time.

That looks great. I've decided to not bother with swapping the pickguard, I actually dig the gold after all! I am replacing the wiring however, and the bridge is not in great shape, so I have a Staytrem drop-in replacement en-route. Can't wait to get properly stuck in!

Congrats on your purchase.
They are an interesting guitar, that much is true -

Also the clean sound is incredibly unique.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine.

I bought one of these 3 years ago: It’s my one never-sell guitar!

What's that bridge you've go in there? Is that an adjustomatic?
Does that work pretty good for you?
