Hello from North East England

Post by nonesuch » Wed Feb 21, 2018 3:56 am

Hi there,

I’ve only made a couple of posts, so I thought I’d better make one in the Introductions Section.

I’ve had a couple of offsets over the years - a Fender Electric XII, which I still have, and a late 1990s MIJ Fender Jaguar. To be honest, I never really got along with the Jaguar for some reason. I think if I had it now I could have addressed some of the issues with the bridge etc. but back then I didn’t really know how to improve things.

My Electric XII is a 1965 version that I bought in 1991. It’s got Kluson tuners and an L-series neck plate which I’m pretty sure dates it to 1965. I think it’s been refretted at some point with low wide frets which actually makes it very nice to play.

Here’s some pictures:

Hi and welcome - that's a nice XII you have there.

To embed images, just click on the little box that looks like a postcard of some mountains with the sun or moon shining down and the code "(img)[/img]" will appear (except the brackets will both look like the second set). Insert your pic url in the middle and you're done....

(Okay, having used the preview button, I noticed that didn't work as your pics are on a dropbox url, so what you need to do is right-click on the image and select 'copy image address', then paste that between the {img][/img]

Here's one to get you started....

Welcome!.
Your XII is beautiful. You have earned my envy.
I've always been curious how you deal with intonation on the Electric XII seeing as you only get one adjustment for two strings. Is there some compensation filed into the saddles?

There's actually a separate saddle with its own adjustment screw for each string. I've tried to take a photo for you:

Unfortunately, I can't see the bridge images. When I try to look at the link directly from the IMG tags I get a 403 (forbidden) error. Make sure the permissions are set for the world.

I did take a look at the links you posted above to get a closer look. Wild stuff.
