Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.
I am DrPete. I just scored a 2004-2005 CIJ Red Jazzmaster for $550 including hard case and delivery! From the photos, the body and neck are immaculate. I plan to upgrade it as most guys do. Want a red pick guard and some Antiquity IIs in there. Will look at electronics afterwards.
Looking forward to gaining some knowledge on the forum and then passing it on to future offset freaks.
Speak soon!

Re: New CIJ Red Jazzmaster owner
Congrats, CIJs are great guitars. Check it out thoroughly through your rig before deciding on new pickups. The reason people bash CIJ pickups is that they have narrower-wound coils (and sometimes are microphonic, but more so in MIJ/CIJ Jags in my experience), but now fender offers the V-mod pickups on the American Pro JM that are intentionally similarly-wound.
You may turn out to like them more than you expect to!
Congrats and be sure to post pics when it arrives!

Re: New CIJ Red Jazzmaster owner
And here are pics of my new Candy Apple Red CIJ Jazzmaster
Couldn't be happier with it. This is my first jazzmaster. I bought it second hand off the local Craigslist-type forum here in Europe. I was incredibly nervous about it but I shouldn't have worried. I love the neck on it. And it's heavier than I expected, thankfully, as I like a bit of heft. It does need a set-up, and I've left it in with my local guitar shop today. I would also like to take the buzz stop off it.
But it is a beauty.
