Feels bad man. I understand you guys can't wait forever, but how about contacting the local police and turning the gear in as stolen? Surely the cops in Thousand Oaks have a police report.

Oh no... I was so frustrated with this that I was not checking messages at this forum for about a year.... I should have had. I only read this a couple of days ago and now I am trying to contact Sam Ash.
I had kind of left the building. I wonder if they sold the guitar or not. I am trying to call them

ok, I contacted Sam Ash, the stolen gear was sold already.
I guess it is all my fault for not checking my offsetguitars messages.

Yeah... that's bad, man but you gotta respect them for trying to contact you and waiting

I think it was their obligation as a guitar chain store to report stolen property if they suspect it is stolen. If they know the gear is stolen, it is not their property, no matter how they acquired it.
I will say that they did try to contact me through this website. I wish they had contacted the Thousand Oaks Police instead.
In any case, I am told there is nothing to be done now. So that's the end of the story.

Ok, I just inquired about the possibility of receiving "in-store" credit and I received a "have you no shame" answer. I would have been ok with "we unfortunately cannot".
It is safe to say I will never buy from Sam Ash again.

You filled out a police report and made a statement, right? I would find out why the store didn't report it to the police.

Did you report Sam Ash to the police for selling stolen property? I'm pretty sure they need to go to the police if they know its stolen.

Re: All my guitars/amps and pedals have been stolen
you know,
on one hand i thought "good on Sam Ash for trying to contact Carron"...
but as i thought about it more, they knew the gear the stolen and they still sold it. that's lame. i've sent a PM to the SA security on this board telling him/her how lame i think it is.

If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Yeah, is that SA's standard procedure for trafficking in stolen goods? Send a cursory message to someone on an internet forum and then sell it if there's no response? It's not finder's keepers, this is a nationwide (international?) chain with insurance to cover shit like this. You turn that stuff over to police and file a police report and insurance claim.

I had a police report long time ago. I will follow up with the police on what to do.

If you'd filed with police, and a shop knew they had your stuff, there is no logical reason they shouldn't have been able to get your stuff back to you. That said, bureaucrats and overworked police depts have been known to let things slip. But you'd hope they'd fall over themselves for an easy win and good PR.

Shit, I've hated reading this whole thread. Good luck, Carron.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Man, ok, from the start when I heard that Sam Ash was going to sell the stuff if you didn't get in touch, it felt fishy. They should have turned the gear over to the Police and let actual investigators track you down while it sits in storage. I would get on the phone with local news stations and see if you can do a small story on this. It's the last thing Sam Ash wants and it would probably result in them cutting you a check, fast.
