New To Offsets

Post by Rgand » Mon Mar 06, 2017 6:19 am

Howdy from California. I had Teles early on and one Les Paul. I bought a new Tele and changed to humbucker pickups. I scratch built an electric mandolin which I eventually gave to my father who played a Gibson. After a long break from playing, I decided to get back into it.

I picked up a Squier Strat with a worn out neck and turned it into a first rate player with a new Warmoth neck and all new electronics.

Recently I decided I wanted to build a Toronado and mentioned that on the Warmoth forum. Warmoth doesn't offer that type of body but one member there said, "Why don't you just build a Jazzmaster?" I thought about it and did just that. I've fallen in love with the offset design. I intend to build another offset one of these days. Maybe a Jaguar, maybe a full-on scratch built offset Tele or something, not sure yet. There's no rush because the JM I have is an amazing instrument and I'm really liking it.

So I registered here and will cruise around and get familiar with the place. Good to see people seem to like it here.

Do you have a pic and some details of the work? It'd be cool to see. Welcome btw.

I'll start a thread on it in the Mods section a little later. When I do, I'll post a link here. Thanks for the welcome.

Thank you. It was fun to put all the different parts I like together in one guitar. The color was a calculated gamble that worked out.

Hello! From learning to play on my dads 57 strat in the 60's 70's, I have bought and sold many Fenders. Primarily a bassist with probably my last P bass. Sunburst Maple board Tortoise guard. What else is here? Now I have a keeper. 1959 Jazzmaster. Although a repaint (some routing too) and the guard, pickups and wiring is new, the rest is old. The necks very nice and only slight wear. It had custom guard oversized control area when I got it. There was some routing to fill.
