Pavement......

Post by PorkyPrimeCut » Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:26 pm

...erm...I'm at a loose end, trying not to think about stuff (see other threads). Can't sleep & might have to finish the left over red wine sat right next to me! Only half a bottle...more!!

So, Pavement. I was just listening to them. Great band.

I saw them back in '92 & they not only blew my head off but made me laugh out loud too. Cool guys. If my memory serves me well they played the 1992 Reading Festival & it was constantly raining (yep, one of those) yet my memories of them are really sunny & nice.

Anyone else feeling the Malkmus love??

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

I like all the Pavement and Jicks stuff a ton.  I've seen the Jicks twice too and didn't think it was boring at all.  In fact, Stephen is quite the funny man and made both shows very entertaining beyond just the music.

definitely one of my favorite bands ever, just wish i could have seen them before they split, but i was too young to even know who they were when they were still  together. I really love all the sm and the jicks stuff i've heard, none of it gives me goosebumps like some pavement songs do though.

I saw Pavement at the (then) Off Ramp in Seattle (cap. 300ish) for Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Yeah, they were fantastic live, better yet, Rollerskate Skinny opened!
I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth.

Wowee Zowee is one of my favourite albums. I honestly can't really get into their other stuff. I appreciate it's good, but the first I heard was WZ and it just seems absolutely perfect to me, and it's so sprawling I don't really feel I need to complete my Pavement collection when everything they do they do on WZ.
Don't you know that's sinful boy?

I love pavement and SM and the jicks.

I saw SM and the jicks a couple of years ago, and it was great fun. SM is one hell of an entertainer.

Certain albums have a really memorable beginning.

For example....

Mudhoney - Superfuzz BigMuff
Nirvana - Nevermind
Dinosaur Jr - You're Living All Over Me
Spacemen 3 - Sound Of Confusion
Sonic Youth - Sister
The Stooges - The Stooges
The Stone Roses - The Stone Rose

....and Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted

I fucking love that album.

i would agree that wowee zowee is indeed ana amazing album, but crooked rain crooked rain is just incredible, i mean gold soundz, that song just makes all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, and holds so many memories for me, its just perfection.

Looks worthy of its title.

'Keep It Secret, Keep It Safe!' (god I hate the Lord of the Rings)

so how did you get it? I hope he didn't throw it at you?
