Hyena OST by The The is available on Death Waltz (blue 2X12 one side etched fancy textured sleeve) and well worth having a look at. Track samples here. I've not seen the film yet but I think I might check it out now I've bought the soundtrack.

Plus Escape from New York is out in brilliant expanded form on Silva Screen (SILLP1493) on 2X12, total must have IMO. Mine has not arrived but I'm looking forward to it coming.

I think it may well have been mentioned already but we finally saw Interstellar the other night. Great soundtrack from Hans Zimmer.

There's a (repeated) series on the BBC called Sound of Cinema (and a range of complementary radio programmes) that might engage OSG OST heads. Part three is perhaps closest to the scope of this thread but it's all worth looking at. Three concerns new approaches to soundtrack and the spotlight is shone on; (among others) Wendy Carlos, Vangelis and Clint Mansell.

I'll admit to being a quite disinterested in any video game soundtracks (since I'm not a gamer in any shape or form) but I bought C418 Minecraft Volume Alpha and it's not bad, if not IMO worthy of some of the froth floating about regarding it. Sometimes it reminds me of something on Em:t or early 80's Library New Age (like say...Emerald Web) goes Harold Budd (or Eric Satie) and other times it gets a bit...well...Harry Potter but not in an absolutely objectionable manner and it's generally interesting. It the flagship edition came in green and is housed in a fancier sleeve but there's a regular version too. I've never played Minecraft so it''s all news to me and there's a full stream on (((yootoob))).

Patrick Cowley (probably best known for this stone cold classic mix which blew a young Shadowplay's mind when he first heard it)- Muscle Up is a collection of his (melancholy kosmische slomo disko dread) soundtracks to 8mm homosexual erotica. This is the second collection, the first one School Daze was great too and we are definitely in the best archive of the year zone. I great tribute to a true pioneer. Dark Entries have evolved into such a great label.
If you have any preconceived notions of this being kitsch, set them aside, there is no moustachioed wah wahed squeezy cheese here, only epic synthetic ennui. It's closer to Klaus Dinger than Dirk Diggler!

The Cooties soundtrack by Kreng is good. I've not seen the film and don't really like the look of it but the music stands up on it's own.

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.
