Hyena OST by The The is available on Death Waltz (blue 2X12 one side etched fancy textured sleeve) and well worth having a look at. Track samples here. I've not seen the film yet but I think I might check it out now I've bought the soundtrack.

Plus Escape from New York is out in brilliant expanded form on Silva Screen (SILLP1493) on 2X12, total must have IMO. Mine has not arrived but I'm looking forward to it coming.

Also I guess this is relevant and really good and beautifully packaged; Blanck Mass Presents; The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears rescore

I think it may well have been mentioned already but we finally saw Interstellar the other night. Great soundtrack from Hans Zimmer.

There's a (repeated) series on the BBC called Sound of Cinema (and a range of complementary radio programmes) that might engage OSG OST heads. Part three is perhaps closest to the scope of this thread but it's all worth looking at. Three concerns new approaches to soundtrack and the spotlight is shone on; (among others) Wendy Carlos, Vangelis and Clint Mansell.

I'll admit to being a quite disinterested in any video game soundtracks (since I'm not a gamer in any shape or form) but I bought C418 Minecraft Volume Alpha and it's not bad, if not IMO worthy of some of the froth floating about regarding it. Sometimes it reminds me of something on Em:t or early 80's Library New Age (like say...Emerald Web) goes Harold Budd (or Eric Satie) and other times it gets a bit...well...Harry Potter but not in an absolutely objectionable manner and it's generally interesting. It the flagship edition came in green and is housed in a fancier sleeve but there's a regular version too. I've never played Minecraft so it''s all news to me and there's a full stream on (((yootoob))).

Patrick Cowley (probably best known for this stone cold classic mix which blew a young Shadowplay's mind when he first heard it)- Muscle Up is a collection of his (melancholy kosmische slomo disko dread) soundtracks to 8mm homosexual erotica. This is the second collection, the first one School Daze was great too and we are definitely in the best archive of the year zone. I great tribute to a true pioneer. Dark Entries have evolved into such a great label. :-*
If you have any preconceived notions of this being kitsch, set them aside, there is no moustachioed wah wahed squeezy cheese here, only epic synthetic ennui. It's closer to Klaus Dinger than Dirk Diggler!

Some Muscle up Samples to tickle your erogenous zones until release in couple of weeks;

Patrick Cowley - Deep Inside You

Patrick Cowley - The Jungle Dream

Patrick Cowley ‎- Cat's Eye

Some School Daze Samples to lather your leather. (Previously endorsed by Slow Pop a few pages back)

Patrick Cowley - Nightcrawler

Patrick Cowley - Journey Home

Patrick Cowley - Mockingbird Dream

Patrick Cowley - Out of Body

A couple of interesting ones popped up in the Boomkat email this week:

the soundtrack to Jodorowsky's Dune, and Morricone's soundtrack to Black Belly Of The Tarantula.

The Cooties soundtrack by Kreng is good. I've not seen the film and don't really like the look of it but the music stands up on it's own.

In other news;
recordstore.co.uk wrote: Back To The Future Picture Disc

One of the best soundtracks of all time from one of the most legendary films of our time is on now available on Limited Edition Vinyl Picture Disc. The soundtrack includes some of the most famous tracks in music history; The Power Of Love and Johnny B.Goode featuring artists such as Huey Lewis & The News, Lindsey Buckingham, Eric Clapton and Etta James.
Yeah if you say so Recordstore.

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.

:D

This reminds me of the musical acts my sister has been interested enough over the years to actually either go and see or put up a poster.

ABBA (off to a decent start)

Nick Kershaw

She might have liked Level 42 but I can't be 100% certain as that was during the few years i was estranged from the family after being shown the door.
