I say go for it...Neil has gone his own way, you should too!
Agreed. Like Old Black reinterpreted as a Duo Jet, for instance. Now THAT would be cool!
Is it strange I keep pretending my Duo is an LP? I keep playing "Cinnamon Girl", if that helps.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

...or a parallel universe where Old Black was a Silvertone Stratotone.

Nah... it's not strange. I kept playing Cinnamon Girl on my Pro-Jet. After all, Neil plays a White Falcon... *shrug*

i just bought Zuma a few days ago. WHOA!
i fucking love it!
and while i was at the store with my new CD in hand, a buddy of mine on the other side of the continent sms'ed me from a LP store saying he was looking at buying a 12" Neil Young album and asked if i had heard it... and he sms'ed me the cover of Zuma.
Kinda funny. Great album.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

My favorite is "time fades away". I'm not sure if Neil hates that album or he just doesn't like remembering that time in his life. Either way, it's amazing.

The song "journey through the past" is on that album, and it's great, but I love the version on the soundtrack to "inherent vice" even more.

Harvest is one of those special albums for me. A friend introduced me to the sonic assault of Live Rust. I love the barely contained mayhem of Like A Hurricane, Cortez The Killer, and Powderfinger. I'm glad I finally got to see him with the Crazy Horse line-up (with Sonic Youth opening!). That live sound--microphonic pickup and cranked tweed deluxe. Recordings from that tour ended up as the live album "Weld".

"On the Beach" is horribly under-appreciated. My favorite. Although "Rust Never Sleeps" is a close second (introduced me to the man, back in the day). He was my guitar idol when I was first learning, back around then.

Indeed. It's sucked away some of my time this evening, quite the rabbit hole this could prove to be. 8)
