Favorite Lyric?

Post by jon_warburton » Mon Oct 08, 2012 4:59 am

what is your favorite lyric?

mine would have to be;
My love she speaks like silence, without ideals or violence, she doesn't have to say she is faithful, she is true like ice, like fire
Nobody follows The Killer.

The whole lyrics of Pianos Become The Teeth - I'll get by, it's about the (death of the) singer's father, this song is so extremely powerful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkCdFchDKdA

"I used to listen to my life,
I was so put together,
I chose what I wanted to be in that age of chasing sand,
the age of believing in everything,
but I couldn't save you,
I couldn't save what was taken away
and I'm still singing, and you still can't stay.
You "loved life," and those words have lasted,
I just wish I would have had ears for more than what you said
because I still feel the lack long after.
Such a light body, such a quiet gait leaving behind the weight of the world,
I'll always think it was too early to lose your shine,
I guess the means that ends us means nothing,
I just hope it's the peace we all need.
Because I could love and drown in your God damned smile lines,
but I think I Burnt up watching you rallying to stay alive,
and I guess that's fine.
It seems we all get sick,
we all die in some no name hospital with the same colored walls,
and I guess that's fine,
but I want to swallow, I want to stomach, I want to live.
It's been a rough while and some days are worth than others,
there's no proper way to feel, no mirth, no levity, no amazing grace,
just a flame on a lake floating away,
I cant let you lay,
I want you to know, I'm learning patience against my will,
I want you to know I'll get by, always barely scraping
with just a hunger, with just a heart apart,
It's a hell of a thing"

i want to give a mention to people II - andrew jackson jihad.

But there's a bad man in everyone
No matter who we are
There's a rapist and a Nazi living in our tiny hearts
Child pornographers and cannibals, and politicians too
There's someone in your head waiting to fucking strangle you

Pretty impossible as there are so many. I like lyrics that sound nice, they don't necessarily have to be deep & meaningful.

A couple of lines that spring to mind....

"You realize the sun doesn't go down. It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round."

"I think, I know, I mean “Ah Yes," but it's all wrong. That is I think I disagree".
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Exactly, but for some reason I've always liked this:

"Had lunch with an old girlfriend who knows all my faults
And pretends she wants to help"

Distant cousins, there's a limited supply.
And we're down to the dozens, and this is why:
Big Eyed Beans from Venus! Oh my, oh my.

Boys and girls,
Earth people around the circle,
Mixtures of man alive.
Big eyed beans from Venus,
Don't let anything get in between us.

Beam in on me baby,
and we'll beam together
I know we always been together,
but there's more.

Mister Zoot Horn Rollo, hit that long lunar note,
and let it float.

Men let your wallets flop out,
and women open your purses,
Cause a man or a woman without a big eyed bean from Venus
Is suffering with the worstest of curses
Yeah, you're suffering, with the worstest of curses.

Put 'em out in the sun, and when the night come
You don't have to go out and get 'em
They'll glow with you
They'll go with you
They'll show with you
Ain't no losers
Cause they're on the right track
Cause they're on the right track
You can be on the right track, woman,
Of course, of course

Ain't no SNAFU, no fol-de-rol

Check these out, Big eyed beans from Venus
Oh, let a few out, let 'em pass in between us

Distant cousins, there's a limited supply.
And we're down to the dozens, and this is why...

Don't let anything get in between us!
Big eyed beans from Venus
Big eyed beans from Venus.
Nobody exists on purpose.

"I'm suspicious of my wife,
I suspect she left long ago"

-Rowland S Howard, "The Golden Age of Bloodshed".
"I don't know why we asked him to join the band 'cause the rest of us don't like country music all that much; we just like Graham Lee."

Pretty much anything off of "You're Living All Over Me", I always feel like I can relate to it.

Hear ye, hear ye, friends and Romans, countrymen.
Hear ye, hear ye, punks and skins and journeymen
Hear ye, hear ye, my sisters and my brethren.
The time is coming near.

Come ye, come ye, to soulless corporate circus tops.
Come ye, come ye, to toilet circuit touring snobs.
Come ye, come ye, to bedrooms, bars and bunker squats.
The sound is ringing clear.

Now who'd have thought that after all,
Something as simple as rock 'n' roll would save us all.
And who'd have thought that after all, it was rock 'n' roll.

Hear ye, hear ye, now anybody could take this stage.
Hear ye, hear ye, and make miracles for minimum wage.
Hear ye, hear ye, these folk songs for the modern age,
Will hold us in their arms.

Right here, right now, Elvis brings his children home.
Right here, right now, you never have to feel alone.
Right here, right now, teenage kicks and gramophones.
We hold them in our hearts.

Now who'd have thought that after all,
Something as simple as rock 'n' roll would save us all.
And who'd have thought that after all, it was rock 'n' roll.

And I still believe (I still believe) in the saints.
Yeah, in Jerry Lee and in Johnny and all the greats.

And I still believe (I still believe) in the sound,
That has the power to raise a temple and tear it down.

And I still believe (I still believe) in the need,
For guitars and drums and desperate poetry.

And I still believe (I still believe) that everyone,
Can find a song for every time they've lost and every time they've won.

So just remember folks we not just saving lives, we're saving souls,
And we're having fun.

And I still believe.

Now who'd have thought that after all,
Something as simple as rock 'n' roll would save us all.

Now who'd have thought that after all,
Something so simple, something so small.
Who'd have thought that after all it's rock 'n' roll?

Why do I give valuable time
To people who don't care if I live or die ? "
