i finally did it, almost exactly 7 years since my last full length (hard to believe it's been that long), here's my newest full length release https://musiqueconcrete.bandcamp.com/album/three" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

there have been EPs and single release in the meantime, but i finally had to lay this one to rest.
after many years of trying to complete this album, it's finally here, in the most complete form it'll ever be.
spanning almost 10 years of work, this album encompasses all aspects of the sounds of musique concrète. there are a lot of tracks that ended up getting cut, in an effort to try and not make this a bloated mess.

i've been putting off releasing this, as it has always felt unfinished. there's always something that i want to tweak, or change, or add to. most recently i've been trying to write lyrics, and put some words to the music, but there's nothing coming. i need to let this one go, so i can move on to other projects, and start something fresh, so here it is, as good as it'll get.

those who have listened to my previous work will recognize a lot of sounds that overlap with the self-titled album, as well as the follow-up, "mistake". some of that is likely because some of the ideas on this album were initially written back then. there are also some surprises in store, showing the evolution of my music, my writing, and my musical tastes. my influences today are much broader than they were 10 years ago, and i hope that listeners enjoy how things have changed.

Just released this today, it's the first sizable release I've ever completed for my own band! We recorded it ourselves in a basement and I mixed/mastered it and did all the art.
EP's called 'Passiflora,' and was recorded with a RW Jag that I bought on here and an early Mustang. Hope ya like it! ;D
Now I can finally sleep lol

This is my new project. I do all the things. It's gothy post-punk stuff. Influences include Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Queen Adreena...
I'm never sure if anything I make is good so if you do like it, please let me know :-*

Strongly reminds me of pre 'Forever' CRANES, which is a good thing.

Our latest piece of fuzzy, bleeping, spacey indie. 'New World'. Recorded on a Zoom R24 and then messed about with a little bit.

Purchased!

Really like that. It's got that whole hallucinatory happening at a sex cult in a Giallo film going on. Playing is superb, you are really distinctive and one of the very few modern's playing 'proper guitar' I can be bothered with.

Did you play on the earlier records? I remember a mate buying the one with the white sleeve and thinking I'd buy it but it slipped my mind.

Thanks David, it was great fun to do, Alex gets a superb drum sound. Recorded in the Soundcarriers studio too, must be something in the air...

I only played briefly on the last Baron record, "Torpor":

We were meant to get a live thing going but time constraints have proved too much, especially with WP touring.

I think the first Baron album "Illegitimate Nephew" is one of the greatest British prog/psych/pastoral records going. Just beautiful genius. Such a shame it never got a release.

Thanks I'll look into that.

The singer really reminds me of Brendan Perry, though I guess it's more Perry via Scott Walker.

It certainly sounds good to me but I think you've done well over the years with your records all sounding as good as (I'd guess) the sound of the records you are benchmarking.

Any news on a Soundcarriers record?
