Re: recent vinyl acquisitions the thread
Just an FYI;
I know some folk on here like July Skies and perhaps might want to know that The Weather Clock has just been given it's first black format release (500 only). it's nothing fancy, just an outer sleeve, a plain white inner and a free download card but it's the music that counts.
Later on in the year they are going to release The English Cold.
Stream if you don't know it. Kinda betwixt the Durruti Column, early Bark Psychosis and The Moon and the Melodies.
Buy here or at you favourite record emporia.

Probably way to much recently (unless you're shadowplay) but most excited about the Tym's Records (out of Brisbane) Singles Club and the Too Pure Singles Club (if you like a bit Thee Oh Sees style noise, etc).
Too Pure artist include these guys - Seize the Chair.

^^^
I've enjoyed a good few Too Pure releases over the years. I alway thought Scala would have been more popular round here. This is locked out in the UK but hopefully listenable elsewhere Scala - Remember how to Breathe
Anyway I'm just checking in for a FYI since I seem to remember reading many posts on Veronica falls and the singer has a wee solo seven (synthy not indie) out on Night School that's probably a pressing buy since most of the 300 are sold already.

Re: recent vinyl acquisitions the thread
I don't usually post anything from my meager, but much loved, vinyl collection. But I recently received an album I preordered and am really frakking excited to get and listen to. My all-time favorite band, Dredg, started releasing their new albums as vinyl as well as CD when they released their 4th album (The Parrot, The Pariah, The Delusion), then started releasing the earlier albums as an anniversary vinyl. I've had the first two (Leitmotif and El Cielo) for awhile now (both released on the 10th anniversary of the album's original release) and was hoping for an anniversary edition vinyl of my favorite album of theirs (Catch Without Arms).
It technically should've been released in 2015, but something must've happened as I got wind of a preorder back in January of this year. It wasn't supposed to be released until May officially, and I got it in April.
The original album cover was bright green, and as most befitting of the album (which is a concept album about opposites), the vinyl is black with green lettering (bottom left of second picture here) and looks really cool.
I'm also really excited for the lyrics on the inside (can't remember if the CD had them, but it looks really sweet the way it is here on the vinyl). I'm most excited for the giant, vinyl-sized insert booklet which has all the artwork that Drew Roulette (bassist, who does all the artwork for the band) did for each specific song. Some of the artwork was included in the CD booklet, but the entire collection of 12 pieces for each of the 12 songs has never been officially released. Nice and thick paper too.
Perhaps coolest though is the bright lime green vinyl itself. SO cool.
Incase anyone is interested, this was their big "hit" from the album:

...but this is my favorite song on the album:

The kids bought my wife the Regina Spektor Begin to Hope 10th Anniversary Edition for Mother's Day and while I was there I picked up an original Billie Jean 45.

Re: recent vinyl acquisitions the thread
Not vinyl but something special in my opinion and considering it's just a day past Midsummer I thought I'd post this.
I'm a huge fan of Folklore Tapes whether they release on tape or vinyl and the new Calendar Customs tape is out and it's lovely stuff and stands as a beacon for the homespun personal touch that's often missing in this age.
Folklore Tapes Calendar Customs Vol.IV: Crown of Light (Midsummer Traditions and Folklore)
In the photo is the Folklore Tapes Calendar Customs Vol.IV: Crown of Light (Midsummer Traditions and Folklore) tape (the Virgin Mary blue one 41/250) and the three previous releases in the calendar customs series (see below), plus the essay included, the individual track illustration and information cards and the glycine wallet containing a dried flower (something of a FT signature). If tapes aren't your style, fear not you get a free download card with the box.
Sadly there's only a sound collage of all the tracks available to listen to but IMO it's a wonderful selection of music fitting the season and the Broadcast fans on OSG will perhaps be keen to check out Children of Alice (James Cargill) and from a six stringed point of view I reckon many guitar wrnglers will enjoyDean McPhee's playing.. Put it this way, the Hazel dowsing rod I typically use to measure Hauntological activity, vibrated like a ruler twanged on the edge of a desk and seemed to glow momentarily when first passed over the box.
Calendar Customs Vol.IV - Crown Of Light (Midsummer traditions and folklore)
FTCCI, 'Fore Hallowe'en'. Various Artists. Cassette, 2014. (Brown)
FTCCII, 'Merry May'. Various Artists. Cassette, 2015. (Pink)
FTCCIII, 'Mid-Winter Rites & Revelries'. Various Artists. Cassette, 2015. (Green)

Re: recent vinyl acquisitions the thread
^ A banquet for all the senses! (or at least two, does the dried flower have a scent?). Thanks so much for turning me on to Folklore Tapes, it seems they really strive to create an aura that goes beyond the music itself with the beautifully crafted packaging and accompanying essays. After some customs hangups I just got my copy (239/500) of Devon Folklore Tapes Vol IV: Rituals & Practices (Paper Dollhouse and Magpahi) on Monday:
PS: it looks to me like the label on the album art and at least one of the 10"s are spore prints (come to think of it, your Crown of Light box and tape artwork too), I'm really savoring all the delectably creative (and totally in-theme) little touches.
