99.9999999% Joy Division covers warrant a visit from a van filled with savage bootboys but this is a valliant effort, totally going her own way on it and not just doing the usual student union open mike shite. Off her new album 'Go Dig My Grave' which just arrived this morning.
Susanna - Wilderness
Joy Division - Wilderness
She did a good cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart years ago too;
Susanna and the Magical Orchestra 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'

She's got quite a nice voice. However that background babble like you are at a gig and gobshites are talking all through is a bit of a poor choice IMO. Though maybe it is live and I can just blame the folk who can't shut their pie hole for five minutes.

Tapes - Somebodies Baby this wobbly home keyboard lovers rock is probably heresy to Northern Soul fans or more appropriately in this instance Rocksteady fans but hey ho...I like it.
Robert Knight - Somebody's Baby OG
Pat Kelly - Somebody's Baby the cover that's covered

Kelly Lee Owens - More than a Woman bringing in some riddums, more space and some sexy acid wobble. Extra bonus for not having the 'orrid jazz funk guitar from the original and for being better to dance. Still a real favourite 12' at the cursed house of Shadowplay.
Aaliyah - More Than a Woman

I just heard Juliana Hatfield covering "Physical" by ONJ. Pretty good, I thought. Apparently she's got a whole ONJ covers album coming out, I'm interested to hear how she interprets "Magic".

She not allowed to cover
Love Song because I love it and it's off limits. Stick to the novelty hits like Xanadu Juliana.

I've always known it as a
Lesley Duncan tune, I never knew ONJ did a version of it. I love it it too.

Wow I'd never heard that, her voice is like a junior Lal Waterson with a splash of milk, whereas Olivia delivers from a candy floss reverb fog.
I once played this when I was djing an event and a guy came up to me, asked what it was and totally refused to believe it was ONJ even after I pointed at the actual record.
This footage of OLJ doing love song on TV is something to behold, they really try to visualise the reverb sugar fog world. My sister had this exact haircut for a while, though she's a red head head, either just before or just after her Purdey cut.

Bowie did a version of it, too.
I always liked Lesley Duncan's better, but man, ONJ's vocals on it are just top notch.
