Boy Harsher - Tears (Silent Servant Remix) Silent Servant drags Boy Harsher deep out into the coldwaves.

Karen Marks - You Bring These Things ]Karen Marks - You Bring These Things sniff...every time I play this I get the weepies and I got them again when I bought the reissue which is a fantastic thing. This was originally on a fairly obscure (and in my case kinda crackly) compilation and getting a very fairly priced fresh copy with a few wee extras is very cool. This and Cold Cafe are peak Australian synthpop.

Cardinal & Nun - Empoisonne guitars that sound like synths, synths that sound like guitars

23 Skidoo - The Gospel Comes To New Guinea this nearly rewrote my mind when I bought it such was the sheer heft of it's suffocating humditity. 23 Skidoo barely got close to this again let alone anyone else though T.A.G.C's Balag Anti takes me to adjecent islands.

Allez Allez - Allez Allez often overshadowed by below but a floor filler in it's own right.

Allez Allez - African Queen (Pour La Grace) worthy tribute to Grace Jones that very nearly cast's a shadow over the real thing. If you're not grabbing your beau or belle for a slow cha-cha you are a fully couch potatoed non dancer.

D
I like that old time rock 'n' roll, don't try to take me to a disco.

That's an epic tune! I have that 12", and I play it often.

Broken English Club - Waves In Silver techno built on failed brakes as opposed to failed breaks. off part two of the White Rats trilogy

Disco Inferno - Lost In Fog an ice storm of a track

The Isolators Feat. Bébé - Interdit Ce Soir one from the 99p bin. I figured anything with a French girl called called Bébé on it must be good...right? Turns out it's chic as Chanel post punk minimal disco that coulda come out on Hang the DJ or went out on the razz with Curses or VoX LoW.

In Aeternam Vale / Kerri LeBon - The Voyeur sadly not a lets get physical release but a fantastically sexhey wee pummeler

my song of the day is probably one that will be considered a little weird.

Billie Eilish - When I was Older

she's an extremely talented young girl. the production of this track is very modern, but the use of things that i normally dislike (auto-tune) is more as a flourish rather than trying to tune her singing. that and the dark vibe of the track really works for me. i think she's got quite a career ahead of her. she seems like an intelligent young person, and i hope the industry doesn't destroy her.
Not weird at all. She’s extremely talented, as is her brother who cowrites and produces her music. The textual and sonic experimentation they employ feels so modern and controlled, I love it. The song that piqued my interest in her was when the party’s over. Seriously, what a song.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

I'm not feeling it with her, I feel I'd rather listen to early FKA Twigs when she was at her most supernatural or Tirzah who you should check out if you don't know her. With Eilish I just get the feeling she's popularising a sound that's been around for a while and not doing anything particularly interesting with it but I fully accept I probably age out her demgraphi and obviously I'm in the minority on this.

I was only ever into a small handful of Biffy Clyro songs, generally from the first 2 or 3 albums. Everything I've heard over the last 8 or so years has been guff. Very mainstream-like. A far cry from their earlier material.

Anyway, the album Puzzles never grabbed me at all. Then, purely by chance, I heard a live version of the first track & it blew my tiny mind!! Just other worldly in its tightness & ferocity. A million times better than the recorded version!!

Biffy Clyro - Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies (Live at Wembley)

woo! yeah i love it for that reason too! also yes, "when the party's over" is the one that got me too! it was a live version too with her brother on piano, and it was just great.

Helicon - Phil Mitchell'd keeping it local with some weegie motorockin'that's whooshin' all the way down Sauchiehall street. 10" EP on Fuzz Club.

Coincidentally the photograph of the band on this page is the Snuff Mill Bridge which was a couple of hundred metres from the house I grew up in.

Cool. My wife's been quite into these guys lately.

We'll be going to the Fuzz Club Eindhoven Festival next month. Helicon aren't billed as yet but they're planning on announcing another bunch of bands soon so who knows.
