I know a guy who uses that when he's Djing mixed with a massive Congoes track, the records a touch slower I think.

'Deadbeat Summer' - Neon Indian

It's so Fleetwood Mac circa Tusk into Mirage, like a marriage of a L.Buckingham & C.McVie track

Today I've been making some bread to some Can and I bow to the genius of Thief - off Delay 1968. Listening to this now I'm always stunned by how far ahead Can were at this point, bear in mind the world was still chock full of facepainted hippies and Woodstock had yet to happen. Thief is the future, it's Modernism, it's post-punk, it's post rock, it could be released now. Steal the god from every heart of every pagan man... (the less said about the Radiohead cover travesty the better.) I used to play a this when I was a kid and played a quiet (no dancing) Saturday DJ gig in a pub around 87-88 and Thief was always a much requested track. I must have taped it fifty times for people before the reissue came out.

And cheating with another choice because the minute the Can record ends I plan to stick on Atlas Sound - Quick Canal (with Laetitia Sadier), a beautiful propulsive track that blooms with AR Kane like guitar washes towards the end.

I like Can, but their keyboard sounds are often a bit cheesy.

I don't feel that on the early stuff because the keys are usually subordinate, except maybe on some of Monster Movie but later Saw Delight etc yeah cheesy. I don't know who had the idea of bringing in some clown from Traffic. I don't really like them post Future Days but like the reunion album a lot.

Johan, I remember reading you liked the Bill Callahan album and I was wondering if you have ever heard Grand Slavo who I think have a similar feel if not sound. Their first album Death is a bit of a treat; it's a rambling intertwined story of a bird, a bear, a rat, a man and a rabbit, combining spoken word, orchestral sections and a simple folk element. It's a great record to zone out to. The new record 'Soil Creatures' is pretty special too.

The Who - Heaven & Hell (Live at Leeds)

On top of the sky is a place where you go if you've done nothing wrong,
If you've done nothing wrong.

And down in the ground is a place where you go if you've been a bad boy,
If you've been a bad boy.

Why can't we have eternal life,
And never die,
Never die?

In the place up above you grow feather wings and you fly round and round,
With a harp singing hymns.

And down in the ground you grow horns and a tail and you carry a fork,
And moan and wail.

Why can't we have eternal life,
And never die,
Never die?

They don't write them like they used to!

This morning I'm chilling out to Pieter Nooten & Michael Brook - Several Times. A truly beautiful track with very innovative gutar.
