Sun Dial - Plains of Nazca - I don't post a lot of straight ahead (psyche) guitar rock but I was looking for something else and pulled this out instead. If you don't know them, I imagine folk into Spiritualized or even early Verve would like them. Probably back on the shelf for another extended period but it was almost novel to me.
Martin Denny - Ma'chumba it very hard to listen to this without giving it a hearty MACHUMBA at the end.

Re: Song of the Day Thread
Years Of Denial - Hashima a real chiller coming on like a chimera of Diamanda Galas and Ofra Haza. Btw there's an unrelated single coming out on this label next weekof such mindmelting quality.
Hashima puts me in the mood for;FM Einheit (feat Diamanda Galas) Hymne (Witch Burn), which has some pretty remarkable geetar on it.
Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - A Song Of Summer I'm thinking this record could get pretty big in the OSG pond given it's bleedin' obvious influences and considerable honeyed whirpool beauty. I was on the fence about buying it but I'm glad I did.
The other track that's linkable is also worth listening to, being a kinda swoonsome Cocteau's/Durruti affair;Echoing Green
The System - Almost Grown highwaisted and certainly short bass-strapped 80's pop classicism which is betwixt ABC and pre imperial phase Talk Talk. It could be said that this is almost ludicrously 80's and only of ironic interest but I don't do irony.
gahh I forgot Visible Cloaks - Mask . Very Jon Hassell, all delicious chimes, bells and imagined futureworld temples.
Visible Cloaks - Valve there's a beautiful vocal version as a digital bonus that you can hear some of here.
which then leads to much riffling of records to find this dip in the pool album - dip in the pool - Again

Today I discovered Man Made's relatively new album, TV Broke My brain, and really dig it. I had no idea the lead guitarist/singer was Johnny Marr's son! He also sports a Jazzmaster. Best trio I've heard in a long time. Apple didn't fall far from the tree!

Re: Song of the Day Thread
Two songs of the day from me today. The first one takes me back to my first flat, before my record collection moved in and my flatmate's cassette collection held little interest for me apart from two LPs: Julian Cope's sublime World Shut Your Mouth and The Commotions' Rattlesnakes, which was more a case of any port in a storm.
My first selection was never one of my favourites from the LP (which grew on me with repeated listening) and I never really gave much thought to its meaning until years later when, being ready, heartbreak hit me like a 10-ton truck. Seems apt on a day when 5 more years is still a distinct possibility, but a glimmer of hope still remains.
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions - Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken
Also, re. hope:
The Smiths - Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want

This sold out straight away on the first pressing, but Clay Pipe have re-pressed (I've just ordered mine) so if you missed out, get on it now. Available straight from them, or from some shops - I got mine from Juno as I had something else to order too.

This is for you Theresa, though you really don't deserve it's unimpeachable magnificence.

A bumper bag (6 Albums!) of Muslimgauze arrived on Saturday morning, so that's what I've mainly been listening to.

Bows! For me it's been something of a dream to see Muslimgauze get at least some of the way towards the appreciation Bryn always deserved.

I've got a couple more to listen to tonight, Ali Zarin and another of the VOD reissues (which is what most of the 6 were)

Re: Song of the Day Thread
Just checking out the full album stream, cos I enjoyed the title track when I heard it on the radio the other week. Recorded in Edinburgh, apparently, though you might think of Ayr....
Hampshire & Foat - Galaxies Like Grains of Sand
Edit: Well it started off pleasant enough, but it veers a bit too close to Smooth Jazz FM in places for my taste.
